Expectation
As Benfica, Sporting and Braga will be challenging you all season, I would recommend setting your expectation to challenge for the title, which gives you £14.75million to spend and a 375k transfer budget.You might want to put some of your transfer budget into your wages budget, as you're currently spending 338k.
The board also asks you to play possession football, as well as attacking football.
Players
Goalkeepers
Starter: Helton should be your starting keeper, but he is 34 and his eccentricity is quite high (15).He does, however have great Reflexes (16) and should be kept 'till his contract runs out.
Backup: Fabiano is a excellent backup keeper and at only 24 he has a few more years left in him yet.Excellent Reflexes (17) and One On Ones (16).
You should sell or release Igor Stefanovic, who has distinctly average attributes.
Hot Prospect(s): The Angolan keeper Kadu has great potential.
Signings: To replace Helton, Stephan Ruffier is good, as is Guillermo Ochoa.Rafael (Santos) is a good young keeper for the future, as is Sergio Asenjo.Rafael is obvioulsy better for wages.
Fullbacks
Right Back:
Starter: Danilo is an excellent young right back, who is easily your best fullback and he will still grow at 21. Good Work Rate and Off The Ball (both 16).
Backup: Miguel Lopes is a good backup at 25 year old, and his contract (which expires in 2013) should be extended. Jorge Fucile is currently on loan at Santos, but can be sold when he returns.As should Henrique Sereno , on loan at Valladoid.
Hot Prospects(s): Not really much apart from Danilo.Marcelo, Leandro Silva and David (B Team) are decent.
Signings:
Doesn't really need anybody, but Matheiu Debuchy is good.Sime Vrasljko is a very good, cheap young right back.
Left Back:
Starter: Alex Sandro is only 2 and should start for you.Good Off The Ball (16) and Speed.
Backup: Emidio Rafael isn't any good and should be sold or released.Jorge Fucile can aslo play right back.(see above).
Hot Prospects: Rafa is the most promising, and has very good stats for his age.
Signings: Jetro Willems or Erik Pieters, both of PSV are both good, young left backs for backup.
Central Defenders
Starters: Nicolas Otamendi and Maicon should be your two starters.They're both young and decently pacey and definitely for keeps.
Backup: Rolando takes up very little of your wage bill so should be kept.Eliaquim Mangala is young, pacey and very good.
Hot Prospects: The aforementioned Mangala is your best young DC, but other then him there's nobody really to write home about.
Signings: Jores Okore and Kara are both young and good, and ou should consider Douglas.
Central Midfielders, Defensive Midfielders and Central Attacking Midfielders
Starters: Jao Moutinho is a must in midfield.He has almost perfect stats for a Advanced Playmaker Support.Fernando makes great Anchor Man at Defensive Mid. Lucho Gonzalez is a great Deep Lying Playmaker Support.
Backup: Steven Defour is excellent and Danilo can also put in a shift.Andre Castro should be sold or released.
Hot Prospects: Tomas Podstawski is the next Moutinho in my opinion, while Souza, on loan at Gremio is promising and Belinho is worth watching.
Signings: From Portugal, Hugo Viana is a good option, as well as the aforementioned Kara at Tromso.
Wingers
Starters: Despite James Rodriguez being a natural attacking mid, I would suggest using him on the left. Silvestre Varela is your best right winger.
Backup/Hot Prospects: Juan Iturbe and Christian Atsu are two excellent young wingers.They should be in your team for years to come.Kelvin can also play on the left.
Signings: Florent Malouda is good, but old although you don't really need any sigings here.
Strikers
Starters: I suggest you play a one striker formation, so I would start Jackson Martinez.
Backup: Kleber is a good, solid backup and he is also young with good potential.Walter is on loan at Goias and should be sold when his loan ends.
Hot Prospects: Kelvin is excellent and Goncalo Pacienca is also one to watch.
Signings: Victor Ibarbo is a great option, along with Wilfried Bony, Jozy Altidore and Diego Costa.
