PPM - Direct free kicks

I was wondering if the ppm "hits free kicks with power" leads to the oposite desired result. I have quintero who has the free kick attribute equal to 19. After I trained him to hit free kicks with power he hasn't score any goals from free kicks. Do you think some ppms can cause the oposite result?

I suppose that would work like shoots with power: it's harder to save if it goes on target, but it decreases accuracy of shooting. I figure for that to work well he would need to also have very high long shots, if that's average that ppm would turn make him score less indeed.
