Fulham
Season 4
With the big offers elsewhere rejected I had decided to stay at Fulham for at least another Season. I have not finished what I came here to achieve yet - Champions League success. That is my aim before I leave - if I leave.
Season Expectations
Premier League: Challenge for the Title
FA Cup: Semi Final
Capital One Cup: Semi Final
Champions League: 1st Knockout Round
Transfer Budget: £37.8m
I feel the expectations are very high, but standards I wish to achieve. I believe the players can do very well if not better.
Transfers
I planned to have a quiet summer, signing just a few new faces to bolster a strong squad for Champions League football... but that obviously didn't happen. Once we received a huge offer for Patrick Roberts it changed things.
I negotiated this offer to £45m upfront and £15m over 12 months. They accepted and he was off on his way to a new club. I didn't want to sell him but the offer was insnae for a player who isn't as good as what is available, albeit my favourite at the club and a legend. He had also requested to leave to City as they could offer more money to him!
As you can see many changes with the squad. Brandt, Chiriches and Ward-Prowse come in to provide depth to the squad in key positions. All were unhappy and on the transfer list. Januzaj and Zivkovic come in to replace Roberts with the extra funds giving me two world class wingers instead of one great.
Romero, who I have chased since the first season, became available at Real Madrid (lack of first team appearances, played 30 games all from the bench!). I had to sign him up despite not really needing him.
Van Persie is ageing but he can give us a good few months before selling on for profit, hopefully, and training up Broadbent. Broadbent and Ademoglu are for the future.
Transfers out
All sales were basically I found someone better, or they were unhappy and then I found someone better - made very healthy profits on most players. Sarabia never quite lived up to expectations and Arsenal offered £7m more than I bought him for, no brainer to me.
