Problem with the editor

Hi,
I downloaded the editor and the resource archiver and then did some changes in the editor and saved it as...
then i started a new game and ticked the box to play with changes but nothing happened and when i ticked the box the new file doesn't appeared. am using iMac and the changed file format is (xml)

where have put the .xml file? have you put it in the editor data folder in your SI Document folder?

yes, but nothing happened when i started the game

was it a .dbc file you had

when i compressed it became .dbc but still doesn't work
