Problems With Start Screen

Hi, I'm new to this forum so I'm not certain this is being posted in the right area.

I have a problem when I reach the load screen on FM 2010 ie New Game, Load Game etc.
When I click on Load game I am redirected to my list of saved games but the previous page still appears faintly in the background. This happens continually until the screen becomes unreadable and I have to quit. This was never a problem before when I last played it 3 months ago so I can't see what has happened. I downloaded the game through steam which hasn't caused me any problems in the past.
I am completely illiterate when it comes to computers so I have no idea what has happened so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Surely it wouldn't be his monitor, or he would have got this with other stuff and not just FM?

Graphics card is more likely.

as528, have you installed a new driver lately? Look to see if your card has a new update

As far as Im aware my computer hasn't changed since I last used it. The only thing I have done is installed Norton 360 but I'm not sure that would make any difference.
I think I have just attatched a screenshot but can't be sure.

Find out what Graphics card you have. To do this go on my computer, and then device manager, I think it just shows up on my computer, if not right click and go on properties. From device Manager go on Display Adapters, that will tell you the name of your graphics card. Once you've found the name, go on google and put "graphics card name drivers" then find a recent driver for it, download and install the driver. It might sort it, but it might not, it's worth a try though?

Change your skin in the drop down on the right that says FM, then preferences, and the tab saying Display and Sound, it's on there. But if you don't know how to do that, I assume that wont be the problem as you will have the original Skin

If you have downloaded anything like logo's, facepacks, skins, delete them see what happens.

hey this happnend to me i doubt youll be able to change skin because itll become unreadable to change if you cant then id try re-installing via the DVD not steam because the Code u use to activate the game is oly usable once hope i helped

I haven't knowingly downloaded anything but steam automatically downloaded the new version of FM2010. I don't know if this will have made any difference. I didnt used to have the black screen if that's any good.

This sounds like my problem. If you re install the game do you lose previous games.

No, if you reinstall you will keep all your game saves, try that, fixes most problems

My sister seems to think I will lose all my saved games. Is there any way in particular to re-install the game that will prevent this. A guide by anyone would be greatly appreciated. Like I said before I am not great with computers.

If you go into your 'Saved Game' file and take the saved games you want to keep out of there place them on your desktop and then re-install then put them back once you have done that.

??? Sorry. Im not certain that I can do that if it involves going into the actual game.

Go to. Your Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2010 > Games.

Your not going into the game, just the folders. It's perfectly save and easy to do.

I get you now. I have moved the game onto my desktop like you said. There is still two versions of the game left in the file (v02) and (v03). I dont use these to save so is there any need to take them out before re installing?
