Had loads of advice and help from FM-Base users (very much appreicated) and thought why not get everyone opinions and advice and combine all knowledge to make one big super tactic which combines attractive attacking football with a stone wall defence. Any contributors to final tactic will be credited (obviously). I will be doing one home and one away tactic. I will be testing tactic using Liverpool 9.3.0 patch. I will be using TT&F as reference as well. First of going to decide formation, mentality (M), Team Tempo, Team Passing style, Team Marking, Playmakers (PM), Target men (TM), Free role . I have placed example below..

Formation (4-1-2-2-1) (If you would like to put style of Defence here i.e. Nike, RoO, 5x5) (Home)

GK M8
FBs M10
CBs M10
DMC M8 (PM)
CMs M10 (1 x FR)
AMs M12
CF M10 (TM)

Team Quick, Wide, Short, Marking Zonal/Loose (CB Man/Tight)

This tells me playing 4-1-2-2-1 home tactics with deep lying playmaker, Freerole CM, Target man up top, Quick short wide passing everyone marking Zonal/Loosely apart from CBs. (Please note Mentality slider is taking that the middle is 10, far left is 0, far right is 20)

Once formation foundations have been finalised will move onto finer points. Please submit any formations and don't be scared anythign considered. Thanks for all your help in advance.

capello way..... a think it's called the libero (sorry about spelling defence)

i prefer a basic 4-4-2 with the nike defence. but dont play a TM with a good (!) team like liverpool :)

I play using a global system 442

Mentality- 12 for every1 except fca 14 fcd 10
hold up ball - dcm + dfc
free role - acm
closing down - cb 6 fb 8 dcm 10 dfc 13 every1 else 11

player instuctions based on def support and attack
def (cb dcm)- creat 5, mark man, tight marking, rwb rare, long shots rare, through balls mix, cross rare - deep, passing 11
support (fb,acm,dcf)- creat 8, mark zonal, rwb mix, long shots often, through balls often, cross mix - mix, passing 8
att (am,acf)- creat 10, mark zonal, rwb mix, long shots mix, through balls mix, cross often - mix, passing 5
NOTE NO FORWARD RUNS EVERY1 IS MIXED EXCEPT CB WHO ARE RARE

Team instructions

def line-7
tempo-10
width -8
time wasting -10
tackling-normal
pass focus - mixed
no counter or targetman

I am using these tactics with dorchester in bss (really poor team 2000-1 for title) and they work really well currently challenging for play-offs with 24 games gone
