Pros/Cons of using 2 cover defenders

Im wondering what are the pros/cons of using 2 covering defenders

well, defenders on cover and basically defenders on defend but standing off more (less closing down) and more defensive mentality. i guess it'll be good if you have mediocre defenders who you want to just focus on defending.

So a Pro would be good for teams with below average CBs and if you trying to shut-up-shop and keep you shape

Con would be it makes you CB back too defensive not good if you want to play like Barcelona or try and make a good pass instead of hoofing the ball forward which I Hate
