FIVE-STAR HAYES TRIUMPH

vTFC6.jpg

In what had been billed as a close encounter, Hayes and Yeading trounced Altrincham 5-0 at Moss Lane. A brace from Kazenga Lua-Lua helped United seal a victory for the travelling faithful.

Midfielder Peter Holmes had given Hayes an early lead with a powerful shot in the 12th minute. Lua-Lua completed a brace with two almost identical finishes from beatifully construced attacks. Ahmed Deen added a fourth before starlet Frankie Hobbs came off the bench to complete the rout with a powerful header. A great result again, as Hayes seem to be starting to fulfill the potential that they were tipped to have by manager Les Ferdinand.

Final Score

Altrincham 0-5 United

BORO HOLD HAYES TO DRAW

vKHFC8.jpg

In an even game, which either side could have won, the right result happened in the end. Eastbourne looked good for the win in the first half, and made the pressure worthwhile by taking the lead through a Jamie Taylor header just before half time.

United came out fighting, and equilized through wonderkid Frankie Hobbs, with a long range effort. The game petered out towards the end, so a point a piece was probably a fair result.

Final Score

United 1-1 Eastbourne Boro

HAYES SHOCK WOMBLES

vAFCW1.jpg

Hayes and Yeading picked up a remarkable result on the road, beating AFC Wimbledon 1-0 at Kingsmeadow. Hayes came out on top, in a well-tempered and enjoyable game of football involving two teams, both set out to win. Hayes had the majority of the ball, and made it pay, when Frankie Hobbs, in only his 3rd start, score a well placed finish. Wimbledon pushed for a goal, but couldn't break down the solid defence of United

Final Score

AFC Wimbledon 0-1 United

EXCLUSIVE: I REGRET NOTHING

lesferdinand300x220.jpg

In an exclusive with the Uxbridge Gazette, Les Ferdinand has revealed he has really enjoyed his time as the top dog of Hayes and Yeading, and can see no reason why it should ever stop.

Speaking to us at his West London home, Les revealed he doesn't have any regrets about his decision to take the vacant United job, and says he thinks that the playoffs are possible.

''It's something I've always wanted to do (going into management) and I think going back to where my career started is something that really feels 'right'. Hayes gave me my break in football, so it is only fair that I give them something in return.''

10 games into his reign, Hayes sit in 7th, one place outside the playoff spots, and Les has pledged he will do his utmost in order to finish as high as possible.

''At the start of the season, we just wanted to win football matches, and it's something we are doing, so long may it continue. We are taking one game at a time, and we will see where that takes us. The playoffs are certainly not out of the question.''
