your goal should be to simply survive first season, which means you need physical, tough defensive players, dont try to upgrade your entire squad, just see what you need to survive.

i did this with Millwall

Looks whos there for loan, Rafael, Fabio, Aaron Ramsey? you can have 2 long term loans, in my Aston villa save I have Rafael and Ramsey, their doing a great job for me .
Darron Gibson might be listed for 2m ish, hes a decent buy. Personally Id look to the Manchester United reserves, lots of talented determined players there and normally listed for transfer or loan. Ritchie De Laet is a good example.
Kasper Schmeichael is a decent goalie, you can normally get him for 2-2.5m.
Which teams got relegated last year? you might be able to pick up a few cheap players there.
Chris Gunter of Nottingham Forrest is an ok right back whos cheapish.
Joe Ledley of Celtic is a decent left midfielder.
Andy King of Leicester.
Jack collison of West Ham check his value if its gone below 3m, he might be worth a look.

If I were you I would just look through the transfer list .. buy 4 or 5 players from there and look at Rangers & Celtic players .. If they will not join offer them **** loads of weekly wages
