Question About Payroll Budget and how it affects my money.

A newbie question, if i sign "Player A" in Summer to sell it winter for 1m,then requires 50k per week. And in Winter window, i sold him for 3m, did i make a profit? or he just takes a lot of my money through his salary and make it a loss?.. im kinda confuse. Maybe its a hard question to understand due to my english. Sorry.

Profit..

1million fee and say 50k a week for 5 months = £2 million overall

then you sell him for 3 million and get rid of his 50k salary off your wage bill

Its not a newbie question its just maths, is it not?
