Sheffield United broke the record for the lowest cash transfer as they paid £1 for Chinese striker Hao Haidong.
This record was broken in 2007, when Chelsea paid a symbolic 50p and a Chomp bar buy-out clause to purchase Brazilian defender Alex from PSV, where he was playing until he could get a work permit to play in England.

OptaJoe

5 - Real Madrid have won none of their last five Champions League games (D1 L4) against English teams. Spurred.

5 -Aaron Lennon has a joint-competition high five assists for Tottenham Hotspur in the 2010-11 Champions League. Spurt.

Lennon > Walcott.

He said CASH transfer... 50p + Chomp bar =/= Pure CASH.

Lennon > Walcott.

Gareth Bale has scored 7 goals, and assisted one in 25 games.

Theo Walcott has scored 7 times and assisted 6 times in 19 games.

Ergo, Walcott > Bale ;)

Lennon has 3 goals, 2 assists in the PL this year, having played 26 times.

ESPN stats. ^

Theo Walcott has scored 2 goals in 227 mins, Lennon has scored none in 585 mins.

But Walcott hasn't assisted in the CL this season.

Loved how you didn't put anything about Bale in the CL. ;)

Also, have you seen who Bale and Lennon are crossing for? XD

A beanpole, and an arrogant striker thats only scored goals in a 5 minute period in about a year.

Ergo Bale > Lennon > Walcott :)

Sorry for the massive bump, but this is the correct thread, and I had to post this...

1 - Since Torres made his debut for Chelsea, he & Didier Drogba have mustered just one shot on target in 600 minutes combined. Blunted.

OptaJoe.

1 - Chelsea have only lost one game in the 7 games Torres has featured for Chelsea winning 5 including wins against both Manchester sides. :P

A proper stat now, Berbatov's goal at the weekend was his first coming off the bench for Man Utd.

Eh?

Tbf, I left Bale out of the CL because you were referring to Lennon and Theo in it. Cba to check now..

I've seen who Bale and Lennon are crossing for, yes. A 6' 7" striker can't be too hard to pick out oO)

I also put how Walcott has scored same amount of goals as Bale in less games.

Obviously he's not actually better than Bale, but I think he is better than Lennon atm. Stats can be twisted to mean anything and everything =)

Really interesting thread tbh XD

In 1950 India withdrew form the World Cup because FIFA refused to let their team play barefoot. LOL!

Jo Kuffourd last 3 clubs have all been relegated whilst he has played for them. Torquay, Brentford and Bournemouth

celtics 1967 european cup (now champions league) winning squad all lived within a 30 mile radius of their home ground celtic park at the time.

and in 2002-2003 aek athens became the only unbeaten side not to win the champions league by getting 6 draws in the group stage

in a match at the 1994 carribean cup barbados deliberately scored an own goal to go through. and because it sounds so silly here is the circumstances to prove it.

Grenada went into the match with a superior goal difference, meaning that Barbados were required to win by two goals to progress to the finals. The trouble was caused by an unusual rule which stated that in the event of a game going to sudden death extra time, the goal would count double, meaning that the winner would be awarded a two goal victory.

Barbados were leading 2-0 until the 83rd minute, when Grenada scored, making it 2-1. Approaching the dying moments, the Barbadians realized they had no chance of scoring past Grenada's mass defence, so they turned around and deliberately scored an own goal to tie the game, which would send it into extra time and give them another half hour to break down the defence. The Grenadians realized what was going on, and attempted to score an own goal as well, which would put Barbados back in front by one goal but would eliminate them from the competition.

However, the Barbados players started defending their opposition's goal to prevent them doing this, and during the game's last five minutes, the fans were treated to the incredible sight of Grenada trying to score on either goal. Barbados also defended both ends of the pitch, and held off Grenada for the final five minutes, sending the game into extra time. In extra time, Barbados notched the game-winner, and, according to the rules, was awarded a 4-2 victory, which put them through to the next round.

now wouldn't you just love to have watched the end of that game.

You've seen Crouch play though yeah? ;)

He's weak, feeble and poor in the air. Scores more with his feat than his head lol.

Going by Official premier league site, Nani has 16 assists in the league <)

Hargreaves win % is 100 % this season and the last season.

Ravel morrison has 100 % win % for Manchester United first team ;)

Not a stat, but Martin Jol has a brother.

Called ****.

**** Jol.

Yeah.

OP said:
France have had the most foreign players to play in the Premiership a massive 61 ahead of 2nd place Netherlands with 141 players

61 > 141 ?

Am I reading this wrong? or is it 61 more than 141, why not just say 202?

Think he means they're 61 players AHEAD of the Netherlands, with France having 141 players. Could've been worded better. Or used some punctuation.
