A decent pre-season with a solid win over Monaco. The 3-0 loss to West Ham was unfortunate although expected as we are still working on our fluidity and getting the squad to work with new tactics.

Our incoming transfers all look set to shine, with Balanta especially a fantastic acquisition in my opinion as he looks to become one of the best defensive players in the modern game. This signing was some what of a statement though and it is unlikely we will be spending a great deal more this Summer.

I signed Berisha and McKay after recommendations from our FM-Base scouting network (H), both look to be good signings.

Mohamed Sissoko was a no brainer of course, with an array of experience for some of the very best clubs in the world including PSG, Liverpool and Juventus. His experience should help solidify our midfield and boost our chances of promotion this campaign.

Jake Kean looks to be a solid Championship level goalkeeper already at the age of 22 and I hope that he will establish himself as our long-term number 1 for many years to come.

We head into August where we will start our competitive football, firstly against Brighton at home in the Sky Bet Championship. We'll continue to work on team cohesion and our tactics in the build-up to the start of the season.

Some great signings in there, very impressive for the club and hopefully that'll help with the promotion bid which I'm looking forwards to seeing :)

All the best!

This story is going to be big! Especially with the way you are good at photoshop! (assuming it is photoshop you are using) Actually exited for this!

Excellent transfers, excellent pre season. I recommend signing Doria or Timo Werner if you can get him but it's probably unlikely. If you want a striker just a season or two, go for Jonathan Walters. He scores like Suarez in the Championship.

A decent start to the season although we were beaten horribly by Leicester in the Capital One Cup. They also beat us in the league so I'm not looking forward to meeting them again any time soon.

With 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw under our belts in the league so far, I feel we are looking promising in our opening fixtures for finishing towards the top of the table. We have a net spend of ?26m, which is a serious level of expenditure in the Championship although it has brought in a total of 10 players. I've tried to keep a good balance of young prospects and experience talent, with the likes of Marco Di Vaio bringing an incredible wealth of experience with him. I'm sure Billy McKay can learn a few things from him!

My main plan was to bring in good quality midfielders, both defensive and attack minded, as I believe winning the battle in the middle of the park will be important in such a tough league. I do not care for superstars, I want to build a solid foundation for the future so that not only do we fight for promotion this season, but we are able to sustain momentum in our drive towards the Champions League over next 5 years.

My next post will be a mid-season round up, hopefully seeing us sit at the top of the table as I'd fear for my job if we're anywhere below 3rd at Christmas.

As things progress and the team begin to become suited to the tactical style employed, I'd like to think we'll begin to dominate games and my target for January is to have at least 40 points on the board.

Well I think you found your bogey team! Unlucky against Leicester x2 but hopefully you can build up from the shaky start and reach the 40 point goal :)

All the best!

Glad you signed McKay mate should be banging in the goals for you hopefully, keep us updated how he does please. Unlucky with leicester but good luck with promo!

With January around the corner, our league form is looking good and we certainly look set to push on for promotion. Currently sitting 3rd, we have the best defensive record in the league and are unbeaten in 7 games - winning 5 of those. We achieved my goal of hitting 40 points by January, bettering the aim by 3 points.

Billy McKay is our current top scorer with 7 goals and although this is quite a poor number for a top scorer to have come January, our goals have been spread out between a fair few players. Berisha is our 2nd top scorer with 5 goals whilst Aidan White, Noel Hunt and Di Vaio all have 4 a piece.

Our form has definitely been patchy so far, although it has started to even out now the team is familiar with our tactical set-up. I'm hoping to conclude the signings of a few coaches within the next few weeks but I doubt I'll be in for any players. I feel our squad is solid, as you'd expect for a ?26m outlay in the Summer, so unless anything spectacular comes up they'll be no new signings in the forthcoming window.

Marco Di Vaio has played 6 times so far, scoring 4 goals as previously mentioned. His average rating over these matches is 7.55, so that puts him as our 'best player' even though he has had a few knocks that have kept him from playing.

Mohamed Sissoko on the other hand has played 17 games and Stefan Strandberg has 22 appearances. Both of these players have average ratings of 7.24 and have shown some solid defensive work.

Overall I think if we can continue our current form we'll be well on our way for automatic promotion! If anybody has any recommendations for defensive and attacking coaches, feel free to throw them at me as I'm currently scoping the market to improve these areas.

Enjoyed reading this, hopefully you get promoted first season, no reason why you can't win that league either.

Hit those 40 points but very tight at the summit of the table and much work still left to do! Fingers crossed you can get into the top 2 or maybe even win the league :)

That is the plan mate! Leicester are really on fire and like you say it is extremely tight. Hoping to keep this run of form going and really rack up some points now!

Did you change reputation or anything, this has given me an idea for a new save.

Great work by the way, is Diakite playing well?

Diakite is solid, especially for the money! I improved the reputation by 500, to make it realistic - as in a club has been taken over, high expectations/goals, better plays wanting to be involved etc.

Wah-hey, you signed Berisha :) If you need a winger, have a look at Ferriera Carassco. He MiGHT be at Monaco. Another talented youngster I signed for Stuttgart (and cheaply might I add!).

Results are looking good right now though so well done!
