Regens without regen faces?

Lately, all of the regens on my game save (in 2015) have lost their regen face and it has been replaced by a blank grey model. Why has this happened? Has anyone else had this?

Try to click Preferences -> Display & Sound and then check if the "show player and staff pictures" alternative is "real and generated pictures". If not, click it
