im playing as rennes in my first year halfway through season in 5th place but my best centre back wants to leave and i cant find a good replacement. before anyone asks me to check other threads i already have but they all reject my club even when i double their salary! any guaranteed good cbs or any way i can persuade players to join other than finance?

tried both but neither have intention in joining.
also can i add that this is very odd considering adriano(yes the brazil international) has just joined the club.

Rennes don't have a high reputation as far as i know so it's gonna be hard to attract players to a club that hasn't been active in European competitions lately, Either you keep praising some players to make it more likely for them to join eventually, which takes quite some time or you forget high rated players and go for hidden gems or other decent alternatives. As last option try to hold on to the player that wants to leave unless his contract is running out and there's a chance that at the end of season he'll want to stick around.
