BREAKING NEWS: English FA Remove Newcastle United from Premier League

The English FA have today announced the removal of Newcastle United from English Football. There are rumours this is down to Mike Ashley, the former Chairman, leaving to start a new venture.

Without Ashley's funding the club are thought to have gone into administration and have found no way to resolve the issue under the new fan ownership which was arranged last month.

It is yet to be seen how the FA will replace Newcastle in the top division but it is expected that they will promote a team from the Championship to compete in the world's most popular division.

More to follow...

BREAKING NEWS: FA Announce "Retirement FC" As Newcastle's Replacement

Just minutes ago the FA announced there will be a new team in English football to replace the former Newcastle United. Newcastle's previous owner Mike Ashley, who sold his former club to a fan base just over a month ago, is thought to be the head of this idea.

The FA are working with Ashley to make the top division more exciting by bringing the top names to the Premier League. They released the following statement:

"We pride in having the most exciting football league in the world here at the English FA and this is another way to make the division more exciting. Retirement FC will be home of the most exciting footballers of recent times and it will bring premier names to the Premier League.

We have set some guidelines as we continue to work with Mike Ashley in order to bring these big names to the premier league. We believed having big names in the primes of their careers would make the club too strong and lose the competitiveness that the Premier League prides itself on.

Therefore Retirement FC will ONLY be allowed to sign players of 30 years or older. We will see the best players in the world wind out their careers in the best league in the world."

Many are frustrated by this announcement and don't understand why we need such a club in the division but it will be interesting to follow in the coming season to see how Retirement FC will do.s

BREAKING NEWS: Retirement FC Announce Squad and Manager

The big announcement following the FA's announcement of new side Retirement FC yesterday is the squad and manager of the new side.

Firstly we look at the manager FM Saddler. He is expected to be the only man at the club NOT over 30 years of age as he is currently just 20 years old. The manager released a short statement:

"I am proud to be at this new club and look forward to working with some of the best players in the world. I have the chance to bring success to the end of these players careers and lead them to one final glory in the upcoming season and further on.

I expect this to be a massive challenge and know that with players coming towards the end of their careers injuries and also player turnover in further seasons will be massive issues. I will work my hardest to replace players as others leave."

So let's take a look at the squad Saddler will have:
Buffon- Cech- Foster
Chiellini- Jagielka- Terry- Dante
Lahm- Baines- Piszcek- Evra
Barry- Gerrard- Carrick- Pirlo- Toulalan- Motta
Quaresma- Ribery- Robben- Lavezzi
Defoe- Ibrahimovic- Van Persie- Drogba

It is definitely a strong squad but with injuries already to some players it could be a tough season for the Oldies.

Thanks mate, will be looking to do more in the next week. Definitely hoping to keep it going long term

Looks like a cool save, good luck avoiding fixture congestion though

View attachment 138079
We will have red and black home colours, white and blue away colours and yellow and black third colours. Goalkeepers will where black, white or purple on match days. We asked our players for input on these to try and bring a classic style into the design of the kits.

Stayed tuned for the release of our pre-season fixtures...

Pre-Season Fixture Release

We have a final confirmation on our Pre-Season fixture list which can be seen below:

July 4thRetirement FC Under 21'sHome
July 11thDPMM FC (Singapore)Away
July 18thTampines Rovers FC (Singapore)Away
July 25thGaziantepspor (Turkey)Away
July 29thRangers (Scotland)Home
August 3rdGateshead (Conference)Away

So we start our pre-season with a behind closed doors game against our under 21 side where the coaches and manager FM Saddler will get a good look at the players signed.

The team will then move on to pre-season training camp in Singapore where 2 fixtures will be played against Singaporean League teams DPMM and Tampines.

On the travel back we will stop off at Gaziantepspor in Turkey for another away fixture before returning to the 52,404 capacity Retirement Castle in Birmingham where we will have our first open gates for a home tie with Rangers.

We will then round of pre-season by facing conference side Gateshead.

FM Saddler has said the following about the pre-season line up:

"I think this a good chance to see players in action. The tour to Singapore gives the team a real chance to gel together and work together and the two games will help to boost fitness. Going to Turkey then gives us a chance to spread our fanbase even further from home.

We then move on to the most exciting pre-season tie for me as we host Rangers. They are one of the biggest clubs in Scotland and it will be exciting to test our talent against a good team in front of our fans.

Then I just wanted a run out to end pre-season before facing Watford first game of the season."

Retirement FC 3-0 Under 21's
July 4th 2015

Retirement FC completed our first ever game today and did it in style. The club recorded a win in their first pre-season game with Robben, Ibrahimovic and Drogba all finding the net.

Completely controlling the game the hosts dominated from start to finish registering 24 shots (8 on target) against our youth side who failed to get a shot off.

First Half
Buffon - Lahm, Terry, Jagielka, Evra - Motta - Gerrard, Pirlo - Robben, Lavezzi - Ibrahimovic

For the first 20 minutes we had 80% of the ball but failed to register a shot on target with the new players seeming a bit nervous as they tried to settle in. In the 31st minute though Robben managed to break free from his marker to volley home superbly at the back post to make it 1-0.

9 minutes later in an almost identical passing move the ball was given to Ibrahimovic this time at the back post and he slotted past youngster Zach Gazzard to make it 2-0.

Half Time: 2-0
Cech - Piszczek, Toulalan, Terry, Lahm - Barry, Carrick - Quaresma - Defoe, Van Persie, Drogba

A number of changes were made leaving only Terry and Lahm, who was switched to the left, on from the first half. The side continued to dominate possession but looked to lack clinical finishing in front of goal.

In the 65th minute though Quaresma, playing behind the 3 strikers, broke 3 down the wing and put a beautiful ball in for Drogba to head home, 3-0.

The hosts continued to dominate the ball and game as the Under 21 side looked helpless in possession.

Just a quick post; I'm experimenting with some new layouts so I'd love to get some feedback on any improvements/changes that could be made. I normally use a monthly post but want to try a game by game post. Thanks for the feedback so far.

DPMM 0-4 Retirement FC
July 11th 2015

It was another dominant performance as the team begun their pre-season tour of Singapore against DPMM. The team once again registered over 20 shots and scored multiple goals on their way to a second win on the bounce.

First Half
Cech - Lahm, Jagielka, Terry, Evra - Motta - Gerrard, Pirlo - Robben, Lavezzi - Ibrahimovic

The team struggled to get possession early on with DPMM keeping the ball well but in the 17th minute Lavezzi pounced on a mistake at the back to get a 1-0 lead.

From then on DPMM looked a bit startled in possession and were making continuous mistakes allowing the Oldies to control the game for the rest of the first half. It took another 29 minutes for the visitors to double their lead though with Ibrahimovic heading home a corner to make it 2-0 on the brink of the half.

Half Time: 2-0
Cech - Piszczek, Jagielka, Toulalan, Evra - Barry - Carrick, Quaresma - Defoe, Van Persie - Drogba

It was a much more dominating second half as DPMM failed to register a shot. Defensively the Oldies were stubborn and they created chances from midfield and moved forward.

The first goal was moved brilliantly down the wings between Evra and Defoe who eventually put the ball into the box for Drogba to head home fantastically to make it 3-0 in the 57th minute. 11 minutes later a blocked Drogba shot fell to Carrick on the edge of the box who took his touch before firing into the bottom left corner to make it 4-0.

Full Time: 4-0

Tampines 1-4 Retirement FC
July 18th 2015

Retirement FC put in another dominant performance as they finished their pre-season training camp in Singapore. The main talk of the game was the team making it 11 goals in 3 games to start pre-season. There was one blip though as they also conceded their first of pre-season.

First Half
Cech - Piszczek, Jagielka, Terry, Lahm - Toulalan - Carrick, Motta - Robben, Lavezzi - Ibrahimovic

It took just 7 minutes for Lavezzi to continue his fine form as he scored his second in as many games by slotting past the Tampines keeper to make it 1-0. However Tampines then got a foothold in the game and managed to control the game for 20 minutes before Didi made it 1-1.

Ibrahimovic wasn't settling for being level at the half though as he went on a fantastic run before rocketing the go ahead goal into the top corner to make it 2-1.

Half Time: 2-1
Cech - Piszczek, Jagielka, Terry, Evra - Barry - Pirlo, Gerrard - Quaresma, Defoe - Van Persie

It took just 3 minutes of the second half for substitute Defoe to make it 3-1 which seemed to put the game to bed. Tampines continued to have a fair share of the ball but couldn't convert any chances before RVP made it 4-1 to RFC. The only action after RVP's 55th minute goal was a Terry booking in the 81st minute.

View attachment 138071Retirement FC Statement

The FA has released a statement on the rules regarding Retirement FC. The club who were newly introduced have had guidelines put in place and many are questioning these guidelines due to little clarity previously released:

Retirement FC are only allowed to SIGN players over the age of 30 years old, any players signed under 30 years old CANNOT be played in any games otherwise fines will be applied.

However the club CAN promote youth players from within. The club invested heavily in their youth system and we have no problems with them using their youth players. Any players promoted will be allowed to play for the club long term but should they be sold, they CANNOT buy them back before the age of 30.

The club are NOT allowed to sign players for the youth team other than through youth recruitment. Any players signed outside of youth recruitment cannot play for the Under 21, Under 18 or Senior squad.

The club cannot have more than one staff member over the age of 30. Currently manager FM Saddler is the one staff member allowed under 30 years old, should he leave they will be allowed to bring in one staff member (manager, assistant manager, coach, scout, physio) under 30.

We are happy to continue backing this project put forward by Mike Ashley but should, at any point, any of these rules be broken fines and punishments will be handed out to the club. We gave Mike Ashley our full trust with this project and expect him to follow all rules.

really looking forward to this save. I do personally prefer a monthly post as opposed to game-by-game, but mainly as I don't read the fully detailed match reviews and prefer things to move along more quickly, although I'm sure many others will disagree - but there is my opinion.

I like the idea of having your academy allowed to play. Could you possibly get better mentors/tutors?! And it will be interesting to see how many of your players end up in your backroom team!

Gaziantepspor 2-1 Retirement FC
July 25th 2015

The Oldies suffered their first defeat today as a stubborn Gaziantepspor refused to let the in form strike force score multiple goals. It is the first time that the Oldies have both failed to score multiple goals and concede multiple goals.

First Half
Cech - Lahm, Jagielka, Terry, Evra - Pirlo - Gerrard, Motta - Robben, Lavezzi - Ibrahimovic

The hosts started off poorly allowing the Oldies create a few chances but eventually saw themselves break away to earn a penalty which Gerrard went unpunished for giving away. The penalty was converted by Daniel Larsson.

The Oldies were then always a step behind, they didn't know how to respond until Ibrahimovic managed to intercept a poor pass from the back and hit home from the edge of the area to equalise. The lead lasted just 7 minutes though as Gaziantepspor took the lead on the brink of half time through Habibou.

Half Time: 1-2
Cech - Piszczek, Toulalan, Terry, Evra - Barry, Carrick - Defoe, Quaresma - Van Persie, Drogba

Despite the change of formation and play the Oldies couldn't break through again. They could break down a stubborn home side who refused to let the front 4 get close enough to get a decent shot on goal.

Retirement FC 3-1 Rangers
July 29th 2015

It was a bounce back result from the Oldies after a disappointing loss in Turkey. It was a good performance but once again the back line leaked a goal putting defenders and Cech into question.

First Half
Cech - Lahm, Jagielka, Terry, Evra - Motta - Gerrard, Pirlo - Robben, Lavezzi - Ibrahimovic

It took just 8 minutes for the hosts to take the lead as Robben broke away down the right before cutting inside and finishing superbly to make it 1-0. The experience was then shown as they kept the ball and played smartly keeping possession before Ibra made it 2-0 after 28 minutes.

Rangers did pull a goal back late in the first half after a quick passing move saw Waghorn hit home to make it 2-1 going into the break. Many questioned Cech who could've done better getting down to the low shot.

Half Time: 2-1
Cech - Piszczek, Jagielka, Toulalan, Evra - Barry, Carrick - Quaresma, Defoe - Drogba, Van Persie

The second half saw a pretty dull display with the Oldies just keeping possession whilst Rangers couldn't really create chances after Waghorn was subbed off. Defoe added a 3rd in the 88th minute which was the only real chance in the second half.

Gateshead 0-1 Retirement FC
August 3rd 2015

It was a dull showing in the 1-0 victory but the Oldies ended pre-season on a high making it 5 wins from 6 pre-season outings. Many expected a blow out victory but Gateshead stood firm at the back and only allowed 1 goal.

It was however the Oldies first clean sheet in 4 games as Cech put on a good performance to quiet some of the people questioning his recent performances.

First Half
Cech - Piszczek, Toulalan, Terry, Evra - Carrick, Barry - Robben, Defoe - Drogba, Van Persie

It took just 31 seconds for Robben to open the scoring on the day and it put hopes into expectations of away fans getting to see a blow out victory before Saturday's opening game against Watford.

For the rest of the first half though neither team could create chances. Retirement kept possession but couldn't get past a stubborn defence, whilst Gateshead couldn't get enough of the ball to break out of their own third.

Half Time: 1-0
Cech - Lahm, Toulalan, Terry, Evra - Motta - Pirlo, Gerrard - Quaresma, Lavezzi - Ibrahimovic

The second half changes just saw the Oldies control even more of possession. The hosts couldn't get any more than 10 seconds of possession with the midfield 3 of Pirlo, Gerrard and Motta constantly winning the ball back.

Once again though Retirement FC failed to create decent chances with it which lead to hope for Gateshead who had 7 shots in the final 10 minutes, only for Cech to deny the 3 on target and watch 4 more go wide of the target.

Saddler Gives Oldies Injury Update
August 4th 2015

With just 6 days before the Oldies first competitive game many are wondering about the injuries at the club and how they will affect team selection. FM Saddler has this morning given an update on the situation looking ahead to the Watford game:

"We still have a few big injuries. Ribery, Foster and Baines are all expected to be out for at least another 3 months with their injuries. I don't expect any of these players to feature before Christmas.

Dante has been back in full training the last couple of days. He could start against Watford but it's looking likely to be Jagielka and Terry with his fitness still low from injury.

Chiellini is back in light training. He could be back this week or in a months time. We aren't sure of the time scale yet. It was a bad gash in his leg and he hasn't been using it much so it's getting tired quickly.

The only other injury is Buffon. He started our first game and was looking to be our starter but got injured after 45 minutes. We expect him to at least be on the bench Monday but we will assess his situation prior to the game and see how he does"

So a lot of big news in there. Dante and Buffon could both be on Monday's team sheet. Chiellini seems to be a while away and Ribery, Foster and Baines aren't expected back until the new year.

I normally do monthly posts but wanted to mix this one up a bit. The academy players at the moment are all greyed out but will be used as backup players should the need arise. With youth intake though it will get interesting long term
