Retraining to a new position

Hi, i have regen whom im training in a new position and im wondering if i stopped this training would he eventually become unable to play their again?

He is a natural LB but i feel his stats suit those of a DC, so i trained him in that position and now he is able to play their but im wondering if i stop the training, will he eventually go back to not being able to play their again?

it does happen yes, it depends on the players hidden attributes..

I would suggest just leaving it just in case and setting it as low as possible
