I've just started an Aston Villa save on FM18 as well and came across your career thread. Really enjoyed reading it!
I'm currently trying to get Villa promoted and was curious about something. What's your opinion on the 4-2-3-1 in FM18? Did you ever try to make it work before switching systems, or did you always feel the 4-4-2/3-at-the-back suited the squad better?
I'm not looking to copy your tactic, I'm just trying to understand the game engine better and learn why certain systems seem to work better than others in FM18.
