I sat shaking my head in disbelief, I was finally a Football Manager. Only 4 days after gaining my UEFA Pro License, and then Napoli hired me. The previous season they finished 12th in the Serie A, and chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis decided to look for a new manager. I applied with no hope of getting the job, but now here I am, Manuel Muller, the Napoli manager.

Napoli Information:

Based: Naples
Chairman: Aurelio De Laurentiis
Founded: 1926
Nicknames: Partenopei, Azzuri
Stadium: Stadio San Paolo, 60,240

I set about my work looking to strengthen the squad, although it was fairly good anyway. My key players are:

Fabio Quagliarella:

Age: 26
Height: 1.80 Metres
Nationality: Italian

Marek Hamsik:

Position: CM/AM

Height: 1.83 Metres
Nationality: Slovakian

Ezequiel Lavezzi:

Position: FC
Age: 24
Height: 1.73 Metres
Nationality: Argentinian

My Transfer Targets:
Central Defender First XI
Left Midfielder First XI
Left/Right Midfielder Back Up

The friendly matches showed good signs, maybe I could bring Napoli back to the big time, maybe I am the one, or maybe I'm just dreaming, only time will tell now.

Napoli vs Cavese (Away) 4-0
Lavezzi, Hamsik, Quagliarella, Denis

Napoli vs Sassuolo (Away) 1-1
Denis

Napoli vs Beveren (Away) 3-1
Maggio, Quagliarella (2)

Napoli vs Badalona (Away) 1-1
Quagliarella

Napoli vs Real Madrid (Home) 0-2

Napoli vs Aversa Normanna (Away) 4-1
Cigarini, Denis (2), Quagliarella

The Transfer Market moved quickly, finding the right players was hard, but I found 3 good players, all of which can bring this team to the next level... I hope.

Final Transfers:

Coming In:

Urby Emanuelson - 10.75 Mil

A dynamic Left Mid from Ajax. At 23 years old he will keep on improving, and will be key to me for the next 5 years.

Miranda - 21 Mil

OVERPAID! But it should be worth it, the Centre Back brings a quality which we wouldn't have had without him, hopefully some consistency from him.

Henri Saivet - 2.2 Mil Loan Fee

19yr old winger from Bordeaux, versatility the key here, and should provide good backup for the Left and Right sides of the field.

Total - 34 Mil

Going Out:

Mariano Bogliacino - 3 Mil
Gianluca Grava - 220 K

Total: 3.2 Mil

My First Season:

A last game draw condemning me to a 2nd place finish, after all that hard work, after everything we had done, we threw it away, Hamsik ruing his chances after missing a penalty in the 66th minute. Napoli fans sang my name, but everyone knew what we stuffed up, we were one penalty away from Serie A champions. Well put it down to bad luck, next years ours!

2010/11 Season:

We went into this season looking for Serie A glory, having come so close last season, we needed it, we wanted it and we deserved it. Champions League will provide valuable experience, with no real success expected.

Transfer Centre

Coming In:

Juan Roman Riquelme - Free

The experienced Argentinian midfielder was a great pick up on a free, should be good for 1-2 seasons.

Brede Hangeland - 24.5 Mil

After conceding so much last year, we needed some more defensive quality, well look no further than the Norwegian International.

Igor Akinfeev - 41 Mil

OVERPAID! Looking back on this, I spent 10 Mil to much, but still a World Class goalkeeper, amazing to get him up against the likes of Arsenal and Man City to claim the Russian.

David Lanzafame - 170 K Loan Fee

Needed some backup so a last minute deal sees the Palermo youngster move to Naples for a season.

Total: 66 Mil

Going Out:

Fabio Santacroce - 8.25 Mil

Fiorentina grabbed a great player here, no need for him at Napoli though.

Jesus Datolo - 8 Mil

Spent last season on loan at Olympiakos, and moved there permanently for a sum much more than he is worth :D

+ More

Total: 25.5 Mil

Hey, nice start. Buy Rene Krkin from Inter Milan and play Lavezzi as Trequalarta (sp). Trust me it works. ;)

I'll look into Rene, I've got Lavezzi as Poacher, 2nd top goalscorer last year, to Quagliarella :P

WEDNESDAY 8TH DECEMBER 7:15 PM

Napoli are on the verge of becoming one of Europe's top sides again, well at least one of the Top 16. Today Napoli are facing Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge. A top side at a top stadium. This is a dream for Napoli. Only one and a half years ago they were 12th in the Serie A, now they are almost one of the best European teams. All will be revealed in just over two hours.

Sky Sports (SS): Thanks for joining us Manuel.

Manuel Muller (MM): No problem

SS: Now today your Napoli face their biggest challenge since you took over some say, how are they feeling, and how are you feeling?

MM: Well the team feel they can definatley win this, and I feel that if they put in their best effort, we will come away with the win, it's all up to us though.

SS: Well that's good, who are you looking to mark the skilled striker Drogba?

MM: Most probably Miranda, and that can free up Brede [Hangeland] to pick up the balls sweeping through, but I won't reveal much more, you never know reading this.

SS: Yes that's probably a good idea, haha. Will Ezequiel Lavezzi be back from injury today?

MM: YES! He will be, which is great, we need him, we need his pace.

SS: Well thanks for joining us, good luck.

MM: Thank you, we will do our best!

5 minutes away from kick-off and the final team lists have come through.

Riquelme maybe not fully fit, a gamble from Muller.

Chelsea are favourites and should win, but in football anything can happen. If Akinfeev is on song Napoli can definatley come away with the win.

Now we bring you a wrap up of today's game before a short interview with Manuel Muller, then the result from the other match in Group F, Ajax vs Celtic.

Today Napoli have lost 2-0, but they go through after Celtic won 2-1 vs Ajax.

SS: Manuel, first thanks for joining us, but your team has pulled through by the skin of their teeth today, how are they feeling?

MM: No problem. Even though they lost they are ecstatic!

SS: When you heard that Celtic had taken the lead, how did you feel?

MM: I was still crapping my pants, but the roar around the stadium from our fans was amazing, then Ajax pulled one back, and the crowd was silent, but in the 90th minute Aiden McGeady put one away, and we were celebrating!

SS: We should let you go now, thanks once more

MM: Thank you.

Good signing with Jovanovic he was quality in my serbia save :)

Napoli "Unlucky" in Italian Cup Exit:

AC Milan have proceeded to the Italian Cup Final after beating Napoli 5-4 on aggregate in the Semi Final. Napoli went up 3-0 in the first leg at home, but fell apart at the San Siro. 0-0 at half time, and AC Milan came out all guns firing in the second half, going up 1-0 through Pato, then 2-0 through a Ronaldinho penalty, and Hangeland got sent off. Then after Napoli 3 subs had been used, Cigarini left the field injuered, leaving Napoli down to 9 men. Borrielo snuck home a 95th minute leveler, even though there were only 4 minutes added on. AC Milan went up 4-0 in the 1st minute of extra time through Ronaldinho and Napoli looked down and out. 4-0 down, 9 men down, until German Denis hit the back of the net in the 115th minute, only to have Ronaldinho send AC through with a last minute strike for his 3rd, and AC's 5th.
