Ridiculous transfer fees...

Only in Fifa you can have almost any player for the right price. Here if a player is a regular first eleven player very very hard you can get it :) The game is very real in my opinion. I play at Chelsea, an recived offers for Terry or Petr Cech with price of 40 000 000 £ and I didn't sold them :)

But when you make an offer look in the bottom screen, some players have minimum fee for transfer. For ex Messi have 217 000 000 £, and only if you offer that much money they will release, but not always.

And another thing i hate when your trying to get rid of players you dont need anymore and noone bids on him :@ I offered clubs van der vaart for £6 mil and no one accepted him!

The problem here is Van der Vaart's wages aren't affordable for most of the clubs.

Im Man City at the moment and I kept offering for Messi and then they negotiated saying they will sell him for 180 so I withdrew the offer. Then I tried to buy Pato and they negotiated for 120 million so I withdrew the offer again. So annoying that every club wants me to pay that money because they think I'll pay it. :S

That's that thing with Man City, even though the board give you ridiculous amounts of money, the other teams know this and raise their prices. Gareth Bale once cost be 20m and then on another save cost Sunderland 10m. They double the prices for Man City.

And the wages they ask for is ridculous. I got messi for 135m though and I don't think he's worth it.

yer its very annoying i try and pay double for some players even triple but if they dont want to sell they wont no matter the fee.

If it was like real life, when you pay their value you'd get the bid accepted.

For example, Aston Villa rating James Milner at £30M. If Man City bid that, they'll accept the offer, but they are trying to get him for less so are bidding less leading to rejections. It should be like that, not the other way around with you bidding more than their value to get them to accept.

That's because sometimes there is no point.

An example would be Sagna. If people pay triple his price I would get a nice 30m but then what?
I buy another defender just as good to replace him and that would cost 30m so wheres the point in that?

Messi costs something like 135m but with that price who else can you buy? No one is better than him with his position.

Even though you can put a price on anything, and you always will be able to depending on how crazy you put up the price, there is no point in selling the person because you won't benefit from selling him if you can't find a replacement to fit your style of play.

So getting Silva or Toure, is good an all with 60m to waste but then Essien isn't going to go for that price and if he does, his wages will be crazy.

It's not the game as much as it's the way we all approach signings as managers. When there are only a few top players that you want to sign immediately, you can expect to pay huge transfer fees if that person is important to a highly successful club; this isn't unrealistic at all.

The AI teams won't pay ridiculous fees because they aren't focused solely on buying the top 5 best players at each position, who are stars at their club, like we often are. There are literally hundreds of players who would be adequate upgrades at reasonable fees, or prospects for the future, but we tend to be impatient and we don't want to build our squad slowly (and realistically) over 5-10 seasons. If you are not playing as Man City you need to look to guys from smaller clubs, or unneeded players who will strengthen your squad, not stars from top 4 premier league teams. Or find guys who want to join a larger club, for example Yoann Gourcuff who is easily one of the best players in the game, always wants to leave Bordeaux and you will get him for less than 20m.

Liverpool's default asking price for Johnson is 80m by the way, a bit high yes, but this is based on Liverpool not needing transfer money to buy other players, and Johnson being important and happy to stay. Rafinha is a very good right back for 10-15m and there are lots of other good ones for less:wub:

edit: just wanted to add, I just checked out of curiosity in my save in 2014 and interestingly enough, Johnson is transfer listed for 900k

You've got a good point there but I hope that FM11 will improve drastically.

Maybe the CPU managers are wiser than us human ones? :)
They know not to let important players go and know now to pay too much.
