The team from Buenos Aires faces the worst moment of their 110 years... RELEGATION. This would be the same as Man Utd, Porto, Real Madrid, Lyon etc etc, being relegated... A big part of the ex RP players, now in Europe have already expressed their sadness about this situation.

They faced Belgrano and lost in the 1st hand for 2-0, today the game result was 1-1 (2 legs to see wich team stays up).

Massive fighting scenes have just started in the stadium, tears... Chaos is upon River Plate.

Ridiculous really! 33 league titles, the last coming in 2008. Still, it should make for a good challenge on FM 2012.

Looking forward to a good LLM save abroad now in FM2012.

But never mind that, it's a shame. Poor system in Argentina I think and needs to be overhauled.

They were last in a season (I think 2 years ago) so if the system wouldn't have been so poor they would have gone down regardless.

Amazing stuff.

Big teams can drop like flies now. Look at Sampdoria and Monaco, crazy times.

The weird thing is that they had a good squad this season... The fans are pretty stupid aswell, saying they would kill players if they didnt won this game... This soulda be like fm "NO PRESSURE!"

Well, the good thing.. All of their best players will probably leave for a low price :P

I feel sorry for them, but hey it means it will be a decent overseas challenge on fm12!! every cloud has a silver lining

Haven't been keeping up to date with Argentine football but didn't think I'd see 'River Plate Relegated' any time soon.

This is what happens when clubs sell their stars constantly, and spend big to replace them with average players. River Plate, Monaco, Sampdoria, Leeds, Newcastle, Notts Forest, Real Betis, the list goes on.

They try to make the fans stop rioting by spraying water on them? Idiots oO)
