Robin van Persie withdraws from Holland squad to face Austria

• Arsenal striker said to be suffering bout of flu
• Van Persie replaced by uncapped Luuk de Jong

Guardian Online

Robin van Persie has withdrawn from the Holland squad for Wednesday's friendly against Austria because of flu.

The Arsenal striker has been replaced by the uncapped FC Twente forward Luuk de Jong.

The Dutch Football Association said in a statement today that Van Persie, who scored twice in Arsenal's 4-4 Premier League draw with Newcastle United on Saturday, would join Rafael van der Vaart and Nigel de Jong in missing the match.

Van Persie's withdrawal may be greeted with some relief at Arsenal – two years ago the 27-year-old sustained a serious ankle injury while playing for his country against Italy.

WOO! As long as he's back for Wolves, this is a godsend for Arsenal - he's always injured in international matches and that's the last thing we need since he's scored 8 goals in 4 matches or thereabouts.

N'aww, the flu ^^) so glad it's not (another) injury though.
