Simples,Messi. That is all.
He just bounces off players, and more creative, all around better.

Most of Ronaldo's step overs and tricks don't get him anywhere, Messi's do. Ronaldo loses the ball more than Messi as-well. Messi is better for me, Ronaldo is a great player though.

I'm not sure. They're both pretty far ahead of everyone else (with the exception of maybe Iniesta, who has to be the most under-rated footballer of all time).

Everyone has tried to stop them, and everyone has failed... except for one man, a semi-professional footballer from Portugal, named Mourinho. He is the most intelligent coach of his generation.

None!

if i was bein honest im not impressed with either player in football manager 2010 or in any of the football manager games they are just not worth the money personally i like to sign players are not alot of money because if there not good then you dont have to worry because they didnt cost alot of money also i like to stick to the team i have in the first season to see if it needs improving i have signed messi and ronaldo in the past and im really no impressed with them in the game!

This is based on real life.

At madrid, ronaldo is just part of the crowd. Were he still at Utd, I'd probably say he's the best. Messi's been in scintillating form for Barcalona and he's played quite good for Argentina, not quite like he did for Barca, but still very good. I don't think Ronaldo's really shone at Madrid, and he's not been playing that well for Portugal.
Messi.

Having watched both in all their games in the WC I'll go Messi. Technically there's nothing between them. But watching them play the mentality is different IMO. Ronaldo wants to beat his man it seems just for the sake of it. It seems like he'll beat his man and take a ridiculous 30-35yd potshot at goal all too often. Cool he can hit those, but IMO he seems to do it too often. All great players deserve a lottle leeway with selfishness but as great as he is it just seems he's a little too selfish at times or feels he has to do it on his own and it's not like Portugal is a team of scrubs.

Messi seems to always make the right decision in the team concept - he'll run at defenders cause havoc and look for the pass first and shoot as a last resort. And nearly all of his shots have been good percentage shots - on target or forces a save 9/10 times.

I know they have different roles but it still seems to me teamates of Messi never have a questioning look like "WTF are you doing?" where as it happens numerous times in match with Ronaldo. I also don't feel like screaming at my tv at times when I watch Messi.

And honestly IMO if Messi was of the similar physical build as Ronaldo (ie didn't have the growth hormone deficiency when young) I don't think it's even close. Imagine if he was 6ft, 75kg like Ronaldo. Messi could bull his away around as well as slip past defenders instead of the 5'7" 60kg star we have today.

And you think Messi would have had same ball control if he was 6 feet tall? And also same pace. If Berbatov had Liverpool's Owen movemnt, Walcott's pace and Nistelrooy's finishing, its not even close. He would have been the best player.

I do think his technique is that good and he could compensate. Granted such a massive size difference is a stretch but at 60kg's he is a paperweight. Being taller actually theoretically allow the body to generate pace - each stride covers more ground there is a point where being too tall is a detriment but to prove this, the most successful Olympic sprinters are all around 6ft - 6'3"since pretty much forever.

And in case you didn't realise it's a purely hypothetical point

Er, yeah, but a smaller person has a lower centre of gravity, therefore allowing him the lightning quick changes of both direction and acceleration that Messi has. Kanu had probably the best feet of any big man I've ever seen, but he was never capable of the kind of explosiveness that, say, Jay-Jay Okocha packed.

Also, your points about successful olympic sprinters having been over 6' "since pretty much forever" is just, well, wrong. It truly does depend on distance. Tyson Gay is below 6', as was Maurice Green.

although none off them have ever done much against chelsea i love them amazingly. but for me it has to be leo messi by a mile.

Also since the barcalona team is being built around him and will never leave because of the whole embodiment of being the talisman of the squad, rather than the mercenary cristiano "only god knows" ronaldo

Kinda old post that one, but anyway Messi wont never leave, yeah thats what you first thought but even Messi said something like this when Ronaldinho left Barca for Milan, cant remember precisely, but '' They said Ronaldinho wouldnt never leave. '' And after that he referred to himself, saying that nothing is certain.

Though, Thats old but I personally cant see Messi playing for some other club in the world.

But, My opinion is that Cristiano Ronaldo is better player.

They are both very world class players, but Ronaldo has more size and the same talent that messi has.

Both have their strengths, but Ronaldo is just better.
