Ronaldo 80 games 26 goals for Portugal is hardly good at all.. messi is on the same track.. neither have done anything to light a international tournament up so no one can use that argument

Only way I can see Messi as better than Ronaldo is if he plays in the Prem, but since that won't happen (As stated by Messi) then Ronaldo, though a mercenary, is better in adaptability and as a competitive footballah.

That must the dumbest thing I have heard on this site in a long time. Pele didnt play in the PREM, still is considered one of the best of all time, if not the best. The same goes for... Cruyff, Di Stefano, Platini, Maradona, ....wait... shall I continue?

Now on topic, we wont really know till both careers are over and compare what they have achieved. CR7 is 26 now, Messi 23, both have many years left over. Now, I think that many are waiting who is the first one to achieve an International trophy. Honestly, I dont see Portugal winning a EC or a WC in the near future. Argentina? Who knows. The way they are playing now, certainly not.

In my opinion, they're different kind of footballers, playing for diferent kind of teams. and can't realisticaly be compared...They play different roles, and both would be welcomed on any club on earth. They're undoubtedly on the same level, at least that's the way I see it.
That being said, and no matter how proud I am of Ronaldo, I'd rather have Messi on my team, as I'm always amazed at his short dribling and deadly passing.

To clear something up, Ronaldo wouldn't be welcomed at City or Liverpool, due to the fact he played for United. And the same could be said about Lionel if he went to Real.

Ok mate, any team on the world would welcome any player of lionel's or cristano's talent, that was the point I was making, should've been more explicit.

both are great footballer..both stil young...both already legend at young age...both have their own fans..stop arguing which one is the best...they excellent in diff way...messi & ronaldo both have positive n negative aspect in their game...

This thread has certainly deteriorated in the quality of posts. How can someone state that Ronaldo doesn't have a footballing brain. He is a genius, almost as good as Messi but not quite.

Messi has proven himself in Spain and doesn't need to prove anything to anyone.

Now the stupid people saying that Messi>>>>>>>>>Ronaldo, that is just stupid. Messi is better than Ronaldo but not by a lot, he just shades it. Some people just hate Ronaldo because of his attitude but no one can deny that he is as close to a perfect player as in terms of Physique and technique as anyone can get. Messi shades it because he is comparatively unselfish and his humility.

About that extended idea that says that Messi wouldn't do so well in a more physical league / situation, I might have agreed in the past, but now I quite doubt it to be true.
The fact is that Messi is not that weak now, he has improved about this.
He is roughly challenged quite often by some defenders here at la liga, and he is doing well about this. Even though he just needs his quality for avoiding this.
But he got much less injuried that some years before, that's a fact.

Pele is the best player to have ever lived. I take it because he hasn't proved himself in the top leagues then he isn't really that good?

Pele scored many goal at international level and in the 60s, the transfer market wasnt like it was today, players didnt move for fun.. Brazil was as strong as any other league.

A Portuguese & United fan is bound to say that.

And a liverpool and england fan is likely to hate Ronaldo....

Ronaldo proven on international stage = 80 apps, 26 goals. A goal every 3.07 games
Messi unproven on international stage = 54 apps, 16 goals. A goal every 3.37 games

I fail to see how Messi is unproven.

Ronaldo plays with and always have done with far inferior players to what messi has at internal level. Ronaldo has to carry the national team, whilst Messi does not...

I think there both as good as eachother in different attributes.

Messi is a fornomal player that has amazing abillity to just run throught a team without tricks just natural abbilty, and can perfform on the big stage.

Ronaldo, a fast player that can get past players just as easy but using skill, which is just as good, but ronaldo record at real madrid is fornomol with a goal every game!, thats amazing. and at united scoring 42 in 45 i think, again a different level

IMO, i think messi just edges it because of the class he players around him have, ronaldo is good tho but comes a very close 2nd.

i like ronaldo and as a united fan, i hate united fans that hate him for leaving because playing for real madrid was always his dream and in the back of our minds we always knew he was going to leave in the future, i dont hate him for that, congrats on fuffling his dream, althought i wouldnt mind him coming back lol.

I agree with most of your views but here people have to remember that Messi was very young and still developing when he was introduced to Barca first team and thus didn't score so much at the beginning. But now he has 83 goals in the last 80 games or so, Ronaldo has only managed 50 in 51 ;)

This is such an oversimplification of so many things...if you don't watch either national team more than once every for years than just don't comment.

Utter nonsense.

Coming from the people who both support Argentina clubs, so i would hazard a guess, supporters of the Argentina national side... So your view is completely what non biased.

If anything i should hate Ronaldo, he treated my club like **** when he left, showed no respect, but he is still the best player in world football.
