Are you honestly trying to state that Argentina's side is not better than Portugal's?

I'm Portuguese so I watch every match of theirs, and their squad is far inferior to that of Argentina's.

Again, it comes down to opinion and IN MY OPINION Ronaldo is better than Messi.
 
In my opinion Messi is better than ronaldo. Not only on the pitch, but also for his personality. Ronaldo always says: "I want to be the best in the world". However Messi says: "Their is no battle between Ronaldo and me". Although Ronaldo is a very good player, I think he goes only after the money. Firstly he said that he will never leave Manu and a few months later real came a big money pack and he accepts

It was his childhood dream to play for Real Madrid. He never said he wouldn't leave Manchester United, and he stayed a year longer than he wanted to to help us and he did. He then left with the blessing of Fergie and most fans and got us £80M in the process?

I respect your opinion. Mine is that Messi is way better than Ronaldo.

In terms of comparing teams. As overall gameplay I say that Portugal is a bit better now than Argentina. If you compare player by player in terms of their position, maybe its a 50/50. Portugal has better fullbacks, defenders maybe too, and has a better midfield, except for one or two players....maybe. Argentina has much better strikers, probably has 4-5 better strikers than Portugal, but then again, how many can you side at the same time. That was one of their main problems in the WC. ****** defence, no midfield to balance (Mascherano cant do it all by himself) and too many strikers/wingers....Again, no balance. They should have lost against Mexico, but well, football is like that...one lucky day, and there you go. And as you said, its all about personal opinions.
 
I honestly think that Argentina squad is much better than the portuguese.
But that's a different topic.
 
Well, i think Messi is a fantastic Player, one of the worlds best.....BUT

When he has played against English Teams, he never has amazed me. He looks like an Average player.....But in La Liga, he is the man.

Judging his performances against English sides, i dont know whether he would cut it in our league, but then again, given time to adjust, he would probably be awesome. Obviously, Ronaldo has proven himself in England, so if i had the choice of Messi Or Ronaldo signing for Chelsea, it would be Ronaldo

When playing for United against Spanish teams, I think Ronaldo scored 1 in about 6/7 matches.

Now he is scoring for fun.

Poor example IMO tbh.

Very good point, but im just going on what i've seen... :)

If Messi did come to England, he'd probably rip teams to shreds, but like i said, Ronaldo has proven he can do it, where Messi Hasn't....but im not saying Messi is **** by any means

The only Spanish sides we played while he was here was Villarreal and Barcelona. Both times we played Villarreal it was 0-0, so nobody scored, and he still hasn't scored against Barcelona.

Just helps my theory of;

Barcelona >>> Real Madrid
Ronaldo > Messi
 
Think Mourinho summed it up perfectly a couple months ago.

"We can argue over it, but it will always be between him and Messi, and then it only matters which one you like more. It's like the Aston Martin, the Bentley, the Ferrari. Which is better? Depends on what you want. For me the best is my own. So, I have no doubt, because Cristiano is mine and Messi isn't. I have a Ferrari, not an Aston Martin. Ronaldo is my Ferrari ".

Been saying this for ages now.. They're both stronger than eachother in aspects and after that it comes down to opinion.
 
In fact, neither. I believe it's completely unrealistic to regard any player that has high technique and good sense of finding the net as a legend and immediately one of the best players ever. I personally think the best player in the world is currently Bastian Schweinsteiger. He's the almost perfect midfielder, except that he unfortunately doesn't posess Xavi's amazing through balls and creativity, but this is really the only thing he lacks.

Anyway, I'd go with Messi's side. Ronaldo has the better physical abilities and headers which is surely very beneficial, but he's too selfish and freedom-lover on the field. Messi's tactically better than Ronaldo, but Messi has grown in Barcelona, which means he's only trained to perform Barcelona's fluid total football system. That's why Messi never performs with his national team like he performs in Barcelona.

So to sum it up:

When playing for their clubs: Messi > Ronaldo
When playing for their nations: Ronaldo > Messi
 
Messi is better than Ronaldo.

But Ronaldo NEVER, carried our national team, NEVER EVER just like Messi has never carried argentina, in terms of international duty they are both unproven players, who are still excelent at their clubs, and the idea that portugal's team is far inferior to argentina is BS, we're not that good, but far inferior? I mean, looking at the best teams in europe, in our day, only Spain and Germany can beat us, France and Italy aren't in good shape, England just doesn't work.
 
Messi used to play as MC in Argentina Squad, because we have a lot of strikers (higuain, milito, aguero, tevez, etc). That`s why he has a bad promedy.
But in the last matches he is playing in his regulary position, and he is scoring almost every game. He score in all the matches after the world cup playing against great teams like Portugal, Brasil, Spain(last Argentina three matchs)
