rooney role

hi guys...
i am using a 4-5-1 formation at man united... it is a counter attacking tactic and everyone has been playing perfect, beautiful football except Rooney.. I cannot figure out a perfect role for him in that lone striker position.. i've tried complete forward n adv. forward... didnt work... currently trying trequartista and he's doing okay... but still not playing to what we expect of Wazza... any suggestions???

Try Deep-Lying forward with the 2 wingers set as Inside Forwards to attack the space he leaves

He plays best when he's supporting others but with the license to get forward and score them himself. He's pretty much the definition of a complete forward imo, he can do everything. Try playing with inside forwards and Rooney as a complete forward - support, or partner him with Chicharito in a 4-4-2, one of the best strike partnerships you can get, especially when Chicharito reaches full potential.
