Yeh no problem. If you ever need kits too you know where to find me :) I'll now be an avid follower.

I'd be happy to share kit-making duties with toddzy. Say two seasons ech, if the Bath Manager agrees? Great story btw, I've been a silent follower ;)

Okay, but kits don't work on my computer, because of Administrative problems, so they wouldn't be on the game. Sorry. But thanks for following, i really enjoy your story to :D

August to January Euro Update!

attachment.php

So, the last six months have been eventful for Melchester Rovers. First of all, BBC Sport bought the rights to their story (captains log ect.) Then, they had one of the biggest seasons in their history! This is the season when it becomes a real club again. The honeymoon is over and it's time to get serious. With lack of investment from chairman/manager/star-player Roy Race, who simply doesn't have any money to invest, it's time to start running it like a business. Champions League Qualification would have done them the world of good last season, but they had to settle with Uefa Cup Group Stages
The season got off to a flyer, 3 wins in the first 3 games and being drawn into a Uefa Cup group with Valencia, Besiktas and Lech, from which they were expected to qualify.

The Big Euro Match

Lech 0-5 Melchester Rovers
Rocky Race (3)
Wesley Benguigui (42)
Roy Race (60)
Blackie Gray (64)
Christopher Dylan (83)

The European match of the season so far for the Rovers. The 5-0 win at home was also phenomenal, but after the hostile fans throwing bottles at the players before the match, it was all the more impressive. Billed as the dirtiest team in football, Lech went all out attack from kick off, and by attack we mean literal assault. Wesley Benguigui was the unlucky victim as he was injured in the 73rd minute, it wasn't a question of if someone would be injured, more of a who would be injured. Rocky Race banged in the first goal in the 3rd minute, then Benguigui showed his Euro credentials with a wonder strike just before half-time. Roy Race obviously said something very inspirational at half time, as the team came out all guns blazing at half-time and bagged another three. It was Race snr. who scored the next, setting another Father-Son scoring record in another competition. Blackie Gray added insult to injury, before Christopher Dylan rounded the scoring. Fantastic.

Uefa Results:
Melchester 0-1 Valencia
Besiktas 2-3 Melchester
Lech 5-0 Melchester
Melchester 5-0 Lech
Valencia 2-1 Melchester
Melchester 0-0 Besiktas

Euro Captains Log:
Roy Race's exclusive article for the BBC:

This is a special Euro edition of my Captains Log, boldly going where no club has gone before! My experiences here come direct from the ex-communist state of Poland.
When we arrived in Poland we were bussed directly to a crumbling hotel. Press men were waiting for us and we had to push our was through to our rooms. The room had a double bed, which i had to share with an annoying Tubby Morton (who kept stealing all my covers), that was covered with stains of all sorts. The windows never had glass in the pane, and snow was lining the streets, it's the coldest I've ever been. The food we got was of poor quality, and we were advised not to eat it by one of the press men.

On the television in the lounge we saw the threats from Lech players. They would beat us easily, not at football, at rugby! One particular player threatened to break my legs, and make sure i would never play again. We made our way to the stadium the night before the game, and were greeted by noisy Lech fans watching us train. Missiles were thrown onto the pitch and security had to hold the fans back, fans with knifes and god knows what else. When we left the ground and got back to relative safety in the hotel, i found a call waiting for me.

On the other end of the receiver was a man, who claimed to be in association with Lech's ultra fan-base. He told me if i wanted the team to survive we were to either throw the game, or refuse to turn up. If not, there would be another Basran-type casualty. I didn't know what to do, but when i saw how demoralized the team was, i knew i had to be strong for them. I was rooming with my son Rocky that night who slept on the floor, and we went over this situation a million times. It had to work, it just had to.

I told the team not to be intimidated, and that Uefa wouldn't allow anything to happen to them. If the crowd caused any trouble we were all to run to one corner together and the security would take care of it. Then to tactics, and we had to focus and not be scared of these absolute thugs. I led the team out onto the pitch and the national anthem played, the crowd were letting off flares and setting fires in the stands, we genuinly feared for our lives. The final whistle blared and right away the defender crunched my legs with a tackle. The ref waved play on, and i realized we weren't the only terrified ones here. The ref was quivering with fear, i knew what had to be done. I won the ball and booted it directly at the ref's face, making it look accidental. He was to injured to carry on and the sub ref was called upon. We hoped he would be fairer, but couldn't count on it. Right away a neat pass from Blackie set me away on the wing, and CRACK! The defender had dived at my legs, and i felt like subbing myself off. I couldn't bring myself to let down the lads like that and got back up and asked the defender " Is that the best you got?" I decided if the lads weren't scared, then we could easily beat these thugs. The ref manned up and booked the *******

images

I winked at Rocky and he knew what to do, i put the ball where i had been brought down, and booted the ball towards the right hand side of the box. The ball then phenomenally curled to the left hand side where Rocky was waiting to head home. The lads then went on to bang in another four (one from me) and completely avoided all tackles from the criminals we were playing. Except one, and it was horrifying to see. 18 year old wonderkid Wesley Benguigui, who had been the year above Rocky at school, got his leg snapped in three places. Simply running down the wing, he stopped and looked up, only to see the face of the man about to ruin his season, and possibly his career. I ran over and saw the bore sticking out just abouve his shin guard and blood everywhere. It is a sight that will never leave me. The ref said it was accidental and never sent the player off, but pictures in the paper the next day showed his face, alive with evil.

We got on the bus and were driven to the airport, where i was given a call saying i was as good as dead. The men never got in touch again, and as of now, i'm still alive. I lived to see Wesley Benguigui in hospital, talking to his team-mates and having a laugh. He has been told the injury should keep him out for up-to 6 months if he's lucky. This trip was the worst experience of my life, and if the rest of the tournament is like this, i wish we hadn't qualified.

You're doing a good job here -- I can see your writing improving with every post too :)

Must say, I'm glad you decided against killing off Roy. Anyway, keep up the good work (and don't forget to assign Van der Sar as mentor to one of your youth-team goalies :))

Thanks for the comment and all the other help with the team etc.
If i had killed Roy, Blackie would have taken over, which looking back, would've been awful.
SPOILER: VDS leaves for Villa in January as part of his Manager/Coach release clause!

That's a shame for your other goalies - VDS is briliiant at mentoring. Btw, if you get stuck for sub-plots and stuff you could write in some of your backroom staff and directors -- there's some interesting characters on the Melchester payroll, such as Martin Kemp.

Dont worry mate no probs with that, i just look at ROTR stories, give me inspiration. I use them as a base, then try to make it a bit more mature. Also, i have about 20 annuals of my dad/cousins, so i shoudn't run out.
There might not be an update tomorrow as i have a story to write for English, unfortunately writing it doesn't involve playing Fm for hours :$

August-January Domestic Update

European success has shown just how far Melchester have come in under three years of competitive football. But things on the home front have been a struggle, with second season syndrome threatening. Occasional brilliance has shone through, with Roy Race and Wesley Benguigui netting 27 in the league between them before Christmas. But knock-out from the League cup, and a 3-0 defeat to Spurs in October is the sort of things which make fans cringe. Everybody's "other" team have struggled and are stuttering in mid-table, but their have been some terrific results as-well.
Let's hope for a better next half of the season and grow from there!

Big Match!
Melchester Rovers 4-1 Aston Villa
Duncan McKay (7)
Graham Shaw (19)
Roy Race (55, Pen 79)

The stand-out game of the season for the Rovers with the whole team working together to produce amazing results! Roy Race picked up man of the match, sitting in a playmakers roll, and creating or scoring all the goals. We tried to look all through the game for a fault, but the only thing we could find is that he has a cows lick in his hair, and even that looks sophisticatedly handsome! The game started with a cross whipped in from the right, met amazingly by the head of a bearded Duncan McKay. The game then took a controversial turn, when Race took off his 16 year old son, to put on another 16 year old, Malandro. This really pushed the Rovers forward, and when the Rovers netted again in the 19th minute, the game was almost dead! Villa kicked the game back into life, with young English striker Nathan Delfonesou netting, with a cool finish. Race then showed why England are trying to get him as manager, by tactically outplaying them. The pressure then finally got to Aston Villa, and Race himself scored 2 goals. Fair play to the lad, it is a performance Maradonna himself would be proud of!

Top Five Results:
Melchester 3-1 Sunderland
Melchester 4-1 Aston Villa
Melchester 1-0 Liverpool Fc
Newcastle 0-2 Melchester
Melchester 3-0 Leicester (Fa Cup 3rd Round)

Captains Log:
Roy Race's exclusive Interview with The BBC

So this season has been overshadowed by event's off the pitch. But lets talk about on it. I have to admit that league has taken a back-seat, with European success a realistic dream. I haven't played as many games in the league because of fitness, which i could save for Euro games! But it also gave Super Sub Dixon a chance to shine, which he didn't, instead being shipped out on loan to QPR. But I'm sure if you wanted facts, you could just read the paper, so lets get the dirt out!

Off-field has been just as important this season, with Blackie Gray getting most of the bother. But here, for the first time i can reveal what really happened that night. The first time you can get the true story, without the made up nonsense, or self-promotion!

Blackie Gray:

So, i was driving home one night, drunk i might add. Mary and i had fallen out when at Eddie Eager's birthday party, but i didn't know she had text her sister telling her. We weren't talking and i was driving home, when she asked what was wrong with me that night. I was raging. So i erupted...
"What's wrong with me what's wrong with you? Your acting like a spoiled cow! No other wife there wanted a whole bottle of champagne!"
"Well excuse me for wanting a finer lifestyle," she replied, "We shouldn't be drinking glasses of red with our money!"
"Our money, i think you mean my money, you don't earn money! I earn money, you just take what you need and moan you don't get enough..." My sentence was finished when...
CRASH, the car spun out of control and into a lampost!
20051215-mva-lefferts-and-troy.jpg

In my drunken rage, i had lost control of the car and crashed her side into the post. What came next though i could never have expected. In my hour of grief and need a police-man came to the door. He arrested me under the charge of murder, and brutally forced me to the ground. Now i had been already tested the night before ant they had found out i was steaming, but i had been fined $700 fot that. The rest of course is well documented.
But i would like to maintain that it was accidental, and i loved my wife. I didn't like writing this, but if it get's people off my back, then it can only be a good thing!

Your Pal, Blackie Gray

January-June Domestic Update
attachment.php

So, Melchester Rovers. The name is written in the history books, phenomenal club, amazing history and worshipped legends! But the club hasn't quite reached the heady heights of old since re-emergence in 2009. This had to be their year, the year of the Rovers! Fan's sung loyally, celebrities turned up occasionally, and the queen even went to one game! Read the Official Season Summary Below!
Well, the season started poorly and was shocking to watch at times. But luck swung and results picked up leading to a successful season, a very successful season. Read below the match summary of the biggest domestic matches of the season

The Big League Match

attachment.php

In the last league match of the season Rovers fans were shown how football had to be played. Over 90,000 fans were on the edge of their seat at the wizardry shown by Wesley BenGuiGui, who has taken over Roy Race's goalscoring tally for the season. Roy had been out injured since February, but the team showed that they don't need him, by finishing in 6th place. Youngsters Malandro, Rocky Race and Wesley BenGuiGui have taken centre stage and climbed the table single-handedly. Jonny Shelvey opened the scoring in the 16th minute, with a finely aimed header. Malandro scored a stunning volley to double the lead, after a Goldenballs cross. BenGuiGui netted the next two, with smooth finishes, but nothing special, before watching West Brom's Simon *** net a corner. BenGuiGui then showed *** a real goal with a 40-yard screamer to wrap up the season!
Fantastic.

Also, this year, VDS left in January, with David Marshall brought in on a free as cover. Goldenballs also signed on a free, after his contract in the U.S expired!

Apart from all that this was quite a nice year in the league, with the team only falling 1 place, a terrific acheivment. The club reached the FA Cup final and did fantastically well...

The Big Cup Match

attachment.php

A fantastic win for the Rovers with silverware returning for the first time since 1985 (Excluding the Championship win of 2010) in tremendous style. 14 year-old Malandro became the youngest ever goalscorer in the FA Cup final in the 24th minute with a placed shot into the bottom left. He then spectacularly doubled his tally, and Melchester's tally in the 52nd minute, with a curling header into the top right hand corner, to put the final beyond doubt. Len Peters got a second yellow card in the 64th minute just to give Melchester Rovers a scare, but the damage was done and the cup was driven back to Mel Park! Race cried on the sidelines "This is what the club means to the whole country, victories like this make it all worth it, worship the Rovers, and you shall be rewarded."

The league table,
orgot about it last time sorry :P
Also, there won't be a diary entry as i was injured for 4 months,

January-July Euro Update

A European campaign that promised so much, but ended with so little. The hope that the games were built around crumbled at the last hurdle. When the going got tough, the tough struggled, and ultimately failed. But this by no means was a failure, in fact if anything it was a success. To reach a major European final within three years of the club is a fantastic achievement. If it is a sign of things to come, then the club will do a lot better than predicted, and become a major force in Europe. And we all wish them the best of luck!

A brave performance from a brave team. Melchester played there hearts out and pushed a far superior team into extra time. With the likes of Pato facing up to Charlie Adam, and Pirlo squaring up to Jonny Jo Shelvey, it was never going to go Rovers way! But when Duncan McKay popped up to score the first, fans all over Melchester began to dream of Euro glory. But Klass-Jan Huntelaar brought them back down to earth with a spectacular 20-yard-drive and pushed the Rovers into extra-time. Then AC Milan showed their class by finishing the job they started with Huntelaar getting his double. It was a great night for Milan and perhaps even better for Melchester?

Uefa_cup_landing_06112002.jpg

Other Results (aggregate):
Melchester 6-1 Rubin Kazan
Melchester 2-2 PSG (Melchester win on away goals rule)
Melchester 4-0 Getafe
Melchester 4-3 Liverpool
Melchester 0-1 AC Milan

Captains Log: Euro Special
Roy Race's exclusive article for the BBC

Well, first of all i would like to apologize for not writing my column domestically, but i didn't play much since the last update. The Euro update is more about my experience in the Uefa Cup final. We arrived in Brasov in the early hours of the morning, two days before the game. It was a friendly place, and I felt safe walking the streets. The hotel was a Hilton and was the most luxurious place I’ve ever been, with its own health suite. In the health suite was one of the funniest things I've ever seen, and i shouldn't really tell you this, but whatever. Blackie Gray struts into the Steam room and leaves thinking he’s heading into the changing room. Well he was, but straight into the ladies changing room, cue screams and panic. Blackie comes out with a bright red face, walks through all of us, puts on his kit, and sit’s down in the steam room, fully kitted for the night. Hilarious!
The lads still take the mick out of him for that, he was captain of the team that night, and when the goal was scored, Chalkie walks up to him. Stuffs two coconuts up his shirt and says "Liking the look, big boy!"

But for all the laughs there was equal share of misery. I was coming in from the pool on the day of the final and was told there was a Uefa agent wanting a word. Standard protocol apparently, that's what they said. I was taken into a room with a bunch of suits and sat down behind a table, with a man with a Uefa badge.

“Mister Race, your teams are doing very well this year, very well indeed, but it will have to stop. You see, we feel this tournament is under-rated, and we feel a team as young as yours could, let’s say devalue it. So if you would mind rolling over and your team shall get the, how you say, rewards. What do you say Mister Roy?” What do I think! What was he expecting me too think. I thought he was a crazy lunatic, and not the good kind!”

I stared into his eyes, “No dice, Sir. This club and it’s supporters mean the world to me, how do you think my grandfather would have felt if threw the competitions? How do you think the men in Basran who lost their lives would react if they knew one of the survivors was belittling their memories? You are asking to much of me and, although I shall keep this secret, I will never forget this.” I said loud and proud.

There was a tense awkward feeling in my shoulder, the man said “Okay boys, let him leave.” But I knew this wouldn’t be the end of things, and I knew it was just the calm before a storm.

The game was decent but I didn’t really like the ground. Although there was 35,00 trapped inside, the atmosphere disappeared in the clouds, probably annoying their residents. The match itself was a thorough disappointment, with Huntelaar showing why he is the hottest property in Europe at the moment, with 2 stunning goals.
AC+Milan+v+Genoa+CFC+Serie+A+iHvqI9SOZhel.jpg

All in all it was a thorough disappointment, but this will not be the end of our success, oh no, far from it!
