Pardew sacked!
Southampton sack manager Alan Pardew after a heated argument with new Russian owners. Tim Flowers is being tipped to take charge, with Alan Curbishley, and Matt Le Tissier as the main outsiders.

Le Tissier hired manager
Just two days after Pardew's departure, the Southampton board appoint legend Matthew Le Tissier as new manager. He is reportedly delighted to take charge at his favourite club, as he aims to bring them back to the Premiership soon enough, also getting promotion at the first time of asking after a painful relegation. The So'ton fans are pleased with his appointment.

Le Tissier took no time entering the transfer market, buying Aaron McLean from Peterborough for £850,000 to partner Ricky Lambert upfront.

PRE-SEASON RESULTS
Southampton 3-1 Southampton Reserves (Puncheon, Waigo, Lambert)
Cheltenham Town 1-2 Southampton (McLean, Lambert)
Eastleigh 1-4 Southampton (Lallana, McLean, Barnard, James)
Southampton 3-1 GH Academy (Lambert 2, Barnard)
Totton 0-5 Southampton (Lambert, Mills (pen), Lallana, D. Mclean, Seabourne)
Bournemouth 1-1 Southampton (Antonio)
Southampton 4-0 West Bromwich Albion (McLean 3, Antonio)

Quite a good pre-season, good to see Lambert and McLean get a good few goals. Especially impressed with the 4-0 drubbing of Championship outfit West Brom.
