Sami Hyypiä Announces Retirement

I thought he retired a few seasons ago. Obviously I was wrong. He was a good player.

Sami " the Great " Hyypiä. 2nd best finnish footballer of all time. Truly great player glad to see him join NT as assistant manager. I'd have expected him to join Pool as coach, but it seems Leverkusen beat them to it.

That was one great defender. Sad to see a good guy like that retire...

A stalwart defender at Liverpool and a well-decorated career. A legendary Finn.

Shame he didn't decide to retire after next season, could have won the Champions League with Leverkusen.

Hope to see him in the liverpool staff in the future. Was an excellent player throughout his career.

Good player and great servant to Liverpool. I wished he retired at Anfield, though.

Great player. Attained cult status at liverpool. Wishing him all the best :)

Still remember the match two years ago where he started the 4-1 match against Manchester United due to a last-minute injury to one of the centerbacks and marshalled the likes of Rooney and co.
Up till now, I still think Liverpool haven't found a worthy replacement for him. Certainly one of the all time greats in the Premier League.
