2017/18 Season

Due to the speed that i've been getting through the seasons I decided to do this whole season in one update. I started off the season with the champions league qualifiers where we were again looking to cause a few upsets..

We again went out in the 3rd qualifying round but we put up a better fight than last season. We also gave Sporting one **** of a scare in the Europe League playoff and we were actually winning the home leg 4-1 at one point till I had a player sent off.

We won the supercup again with a routine win over cup winners Virtus

View attachment 448441

We failed in the second round of the Coppa Titano and i'm honestly starting to think we're never ever going to win this ****** cup.

Not an unbeaten season this time around but a good one nevertheless. I decided to change my tactics for this season and in the end it took the players a good while to get used to them.

We only won the league on goal difference after a very impressive season from Juvenus Dogana, but nevertheless this was our fourth title in five years and third in a row.

The usual suspects put in their excellent performances however Villa was a bit less prolific than usual. Berardi is our newest keeper but again he's still not very good.

Despite only being 5 seasons in I now top the Sammirenese hall of fame, although this was not too difficult of an achievement. It was nice to get the thingy on steam for it though.

The board agreed to upgrade our training facilities, however despite having enough money in the bank they cancelled the youth facilities upgrade which was a bit of a pain in the ****.

Following our youth upgrades from the previous season I was hoping to see an improvement in our youth intake this year..

This was much more like it! Della Corte and Scarpini are both excellent prospects for this level and will feature heavily in the first team in the coming seasons. Best screenshots below as always..

So another good season all in all. The players are continuing to develop however still being amateur is getting on my nerves and i'm really hoping we turn semi pro soon.

2018/19 Season

Well this was a mixed season for various reasons. I'll start off with the bad news and then move onto the better news after.

First of all... Juvenus Dogana are Semi-Pro I have no idea when this happened. (though i'm assuming last summer) I'm half annoyed cos theyve got an advantage on us and half happy 'cos hopefully it will mean its a matter of time before we turn semi pro too.

The second part of the bad news is 2 of my best young talents decided to leave the club and move to the Italian Serie A. And being amateur they of course left for free. Screenshots below of Zanotti and Della Corte who have moved onto bigger and better things. The only good thing its this will no doubt do the national team the world of good in the long run.

Moving onto the footballing side of things and we started in the second qualifying round of the Champions League this season due to our good performance in the last couple of years. We faced a Swedish side...

View attachment 447673

And it didn't go well. This was our worst European performance in years and i'm keen to ensure we don't repeat this next year.

View attachment 447672View attachment 447671

I've rolled these two domestic trophies into one, as we lost them both on penalties. I'm not too bothered about the supercup but the fact i've not won the Coppa Titano in 6 years is starting to do my head in. (Even more so that our performance is getting worse year on year!)

View attachment 447669

In better news, we absolutely romped the league this year with our second unbeaten season in three years. We actually won our first 24 league games so I was a bit disappointed not to end up with a 100% winning season.

View attachment 447668

The goals were much more shared this season, probably due to me playing a tactic that didn't centre around the main striker as much. Villa still came out on top though as usual, with young Zafferani stepping up into the right wing void left by Zanotti leaving us.

We had another decent intake this year and we FINALLY got a good keeper! Young Collina is already a cut above our current keepers and went straight into the first team, making his debut aged 13 years and 340 days and becoming our youngest ever player (It says he's 14 on the screenshot but if you look at his DOB you'll see he isn't :/ ) The other two top prospects, along with Collina are below.

So we had another successful season in the league but the poor year in Europe and losing 2 of our best players was a real blow. There's plenty of other good talent coming through though, and as soon as I make that breakthrough in Europe and turn Semi Pro/Pro it'll make my players harder to poach and if they do go they'll be going for fees which I can put towards the facilities. The board agreed to upgrade the Youth Facilities again this season and that will be completed in October.

No you only drop into the Europa League after the third qualifying round, Djugarden knocked me out in the second. We've made better progress this season though.. ;)

Love this story mate :D

Quick question though, are you allowing yourself to resign any player who came through your intake but left? (I think you should)

Cheers mate.

And yes I am, I actually did it early on with Bugli and Anastasio (they both went to La Fiorita) and I signed them back a year later.

I think the challenge is tough enough to be fair even with this rule in place, and it'd be nice to see if the lads i've lost to Italy ever want to come back.

Sorry lads been away for the weekend.. but I promise an update later on this evening!

2019/20 Season - Part One

Iv decided to go back to a half seasonal update for this season.. mainly 'cos there's a fair bit to talk about so one update might have been a bit long winded and boring.

We started off as usual with the Champions League qualifiers..

We'd actually faced both of these sides in previous years, and after being the Bosnian side with the funny name a comfortable 7-2 on aggregate we ran into RB Salzburg who again proved a class above us and beat us easily. This did however set up an interesting Europa League playoff with Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt, who despite being a better side than us presented our best chance so far of making it into the group stage of the competition.

We only went and did it! We actually played much better in the away leg and probably deserved to win, then despite not mustering a shot on target in the home game we stood firm to secure an away goals win and our first ever taste of full European competition.

View attachment 446544

Although we didn't get any points from the Group we did ourselves proud and push both BATE and H Tel Aviv very close in all the games, and even Leverkusen only beat us 2-0 at our place, with the 6-0 beating away the only time we were really outclassed.

View attachment 446541

The supercup falls at an awkward time between the Champions League qualifiers so I don't really put much of a team out, my own fault we lost this to be honest.

View attachment 446540

This is another matter however, with out first team losing 2-1 to a Pennarosa side we'd beaten 8-0 in the league 3 days before! I think the game's decided i'm never going to be allowed to win this cup, but its making me even more determined every year we fail.

View attachment 446539

Juvenus Dogana's semi pro status has put them a cut above all the other teams, and even though we've only dropped 4 points so far this season they're hot on our tails and we can't afford to slip up again. The one defeat was against Folgore, and I found out afterward it was our first league defeat for 56 matches!! You may also notice here that the team who knocked us out of the cup have not won a game.. all season. Enough said.

View attachment 446533

The usual suspects are leading the way again, and i'm sure you get fed up of me telling you that Villa is leading the way in the goals, he now has 126 goals in 154 league appearances for the club. Ironically if Anastasio could keep fit he'd probably be beating him as when he does play he's keeping Villa out of the team.

The only bit of bad news is that keeper Collina who came through the last intake was snapped up by Torino in the summer, but i'm hoping and praying that he'll be the last player I lose on a free as we now have over 2.5million in the bank so i'm hopeful the board will finally turn semi pro at the end of the season

View attachment 446534

I'm hoping to finish the season off tonight while the missis is on nights, so expect the rest of this season (and hopefully semi pro status!!) to be up later on.

This is quality, shame its taken so long to turn semi pro, I'm doing a save with Gibraltarian side Man Utd, just finished 2nd season so I was hoping to go semi pro soon :(

Stupidly addicted to this story mate, keep it up!

Cheers guys, apologies for another couple of slow days we've been really busy at work in the run up to christmas and i've been working 12 hour days, will keep updating as and when!

And yeah Sean i'm really annoyed by it, on last years I had Santa Coloma fully pro in 3 years and in the last 16 of the Champions League after 8. I was buying players then though!
