Arsenal have sacked Wenger and appointed former FBK Kaunas manager Saru as their new manager

"The results haven't been going our way, and we feel that it is time to part with Wenger. We felt it was important we identified and appointed the right man as quickly as possible, and give him the pre season to get ready and get some players in" said an official.

"Saru emerged as a great option for us. He may be unheard of, but after our discussions we him, we agree that his vision is the best on for the club. So it was a unanimous choice of the football club board to appoint Saru, and we are delighted to have Saru as the new manager of Arsenal.

Saru was quick to criticise the former Arsenal manager:

Reporter: Do you believe it was fair that Wenger was given the sack?
Saru: I believe so. Arsene done a lot for the club, and the fans will remember him forever, however in the end, the right decision was made. I believe Wenger was unbelievably stubborn. He built a team based around young players, and he had no results to show for it. No matter what anyone had said, he was not going to be swayed from his path.
Reporter: So do you believe that Wenger's approach in buying young players was wrong?
Saru: I think it is self evident that his philosophy was flawed. As I said, he has no results to show for himself. I think Arsenal arrived at a point whereby Wenger was deliberately ignoring the general consensus, whether or not it's right for the team. His ego was just too big
Reporter: Do you plan to be active in the transfer market?
Saru: We have a few names in mind, and we will be doing our best to get them.

Arsenal Transfer News:

Saru has wasted no time in rebuilding his squad. The new manager has signed wonderkid Gotze, from Dortmund. The 19-year-old established a reputation as one of the rising stars of European football when he helped Dortmund to win the Bundesliga title last season. The deal is reported to be an initial 15million upfront, with a further 20million being paid in monthly installments over the next 48 months. When asked whether such a young player warranted such a price, Saru replied:

"Gotze is a great player. He is the natural player to replace Fabregas. He was a key component of Dortmund's title-winning side last season and, at only 19 years of age, already has several caps for the national team. Furthermore he can only improve, and already being world class, we imagine his resale value will be significantly higher than what we have bought him for. So in short, yes, I feel Mario warrants the pricetag."

Saru has also signed a free agent, former Arsenal captain, Sol Campbell.

Keisuke Honda is reportedly ready to leave CSKA Moscow in the transfer window with Saru’s Arsenal the favourites to land the Japanese international, although Liverpool and Man City are also reportedly keen. Rumours also suggest Honda has agreed to join the Gunners in a verbal agreement.

It is believed a deal has already been struck and if this is the case then Saru has stolen a march on his competitors in the race to sign the Japanese playmaker. Keisuke Honda is a quality player who appears to have not settled in to well at CSKA Moscow, albeit his performances on the field of play have been consistently good.

The £6m rated midfielder has been instrumental to his teams success in the Russian League has come to a close it appears that the former VVV Venlo man is keen on moving to the Premier League and the creative ability he offers would greatly help provide ammunition for the front men at Arsenal, he is also an excellent set piece specialist. Could he replace Nasri?

Real Madrid have made an offer of 8million for Chamakh, and it is reported that Saru is likely to accept this offer.

UPDATE! Saru has made even further additions to his squad.

Sanogo has signed a contract with Arsenal. Arsenal have signed the former Werder Bremen forward in a deal reported to be worth up to £3,000,000. It has also been officially confirmed that Chamakh will be leaving for Real Madrid, for £7,250,000 and Miyachi to Man City for £3,750,000.

Alongside Sanogo, another three players have been signed:

It has been confirmed that Honda has completed his highly rumoured move.

Xherdan Shaqiri will join Honda, Gotze and Sanogo at The Emirates, in a deal worth up to £10m.

And it is reported that defensive midfielder, Emre Can, will also be moving to The Emirates, in a £1,000,000 deal.

When asked whether this would mark the end of transfer dealings, Saru replied:
"We are looking to get in another striker and a versatile experienced fullback."

It is understood that Saru has another £10,000,000 in his transfer kitty.

Good Signing's in Campbell and Gotze, but as an Arsenal fan I can't for the life of me understand why you sold Miyachi he has great potential and turns into a beast and Chamakh is over rated on this game which is a good thing 7.75 mil is a bargain I sold him 2nd season for 22 mil.. But good story although your answers to the starting interview iritated me..
