Schalke have today revealed ex-Dutch international Jan Boerrig as their new manager on a one-year deal.

Despite this being his first managerial job, Boerrig brings a wealth of both playing and coaching experience but will have a lot to do to satisfy the well-supported German club. We'll speak with die Konigsblauen coach soon.

[ Interview Transcript ]
SE - Steffan Eidburg of the German Football Post
JB - Jan Boerrig

SE - Welcome Jan, I am pleased to be speaking with you today. Let's get right to it, why have you chosen Schalke to be your first foray into football management ?
JB - For me, Schalke was an easy decision. They have a squad with champion potential, a large and passionate fan-base, and a solid foundation on which I can build a platform for greatness.
SE - Interesting, you must be confident of your abilities. What sets you apart as a manager ?
JB - My philosophy. As a Dutchman I thrive under an attacking, total football philosophy which I can install into my players. This is the right way to play and the foundation for success. I believe that my players will trust me and each other. That is essential.
SE - You seem to have a very constructive plan. Will the aspect and dynamic nature of modern football deter the players from this very steady and thorough idealogy?
JB - No, I may seem stubborn but players can identify with both me and this philosophy. The players will let this idea consume them. They will be champions if this is maintained.
SE - Can you really take down Bayern and Dortmund, who have dominated German football for a number of years now?
JB - Why do you think I'm sitting in front of you, answering these questions ?

Schalke - A New Era

WE MUST DEFINE MODERN FOOTBALL
Members of the Schalke backroom staff and players have been rocked by what was described today as a passionate and incredibly powerful speech given by Jan Boerrig at training this morning. The men left the ground in a buoyant mood after Boerrig described his footballing ideology and ambitions.
We must go against every stereotype in modern football, football has evolved in many ways, you can be champions, you have the quality. Do not let the media define you or restrict you. You must not listen to this, otherwise you may as well leave. You must believe in this.
According to a source, emphasis was put on youth policies and development.
Is Boerrig deluded ? Or can he and this ambitious Schalke team walk into uncharted territory?

Boerrig certainly feels he can wipe the history books and as he put it, not let it restrict his players from playing to their best ability. Boerrig is already said to have been researching his squad and Max Meyer, Leon Goretzka and Julian Draxler have particularly impressed. The young Germans have welcomed the idea of being moulded by Boerrig, who is generating a great rapport amongst players and fans alike.
Jan has made us all feel welcome and believes a lot in trust, i've learned a lot about him and he is a fantastic personality. -Benedikt Howedes
The manager has already made it abundantly clear what he wants and is evidently straight-minded, I respect that. -Julian Draxler

Schalke - A New Era

SCHALKE PREPARATION DONE, BOERRIG'S PLAN BEGINS.
After a productive pre-season, Schalke play Hannover in what could define Jan Boerrig's dubious and ambitious blueprint. Boerrig has maintained an attacking outlook and despite the odd hiccup, his side have impressed.

[ Team Talk ]
JB -Today we define ourselves. We go out and play what we know to date and nothing else. We take it upon us to believe in each other and in the way that we play. We are better in almost every aspect. I can only ask you to give it your all and to leave everything you know out there. We do this, and we will be defined as exactly what we want to be.

[ Post-Match Result ] [ Hannover 0 - 5 Schalke 04 ]

We played with intent and showed just how good we can be, we fear no-one and credit has to go to the team and the staff for installing this belief. -Sead Kolisinac

I will be doing monthly reports rather than gamely from here on out, unless it is an important game, and this was for me, an important game.

**********QUICK UPDATE *******
If you don't post feedback, I will lose motivation guys. If you want to keep the save going, have a bit of input or constructive criticism

nice to see a bundesliga story..... will follow!

SCHALKE ENJOYING GOOD START

Schalke have been in terrific form this month and it appears that Jan Boerrig's blueprint is taking shape in an obnoxious, stubborn form as they remain unbeaten after four games.
They've been great to watch and could be a contender for the title, despite it being very early -Michael Ballack

Schalke look forward to the Champions League this season, Mr. Boerrig certainly seemed content with the draw, having been joined by previous employers Arsenal and rivals of his boyhood club PSV in Ajax. Boerrig was known as the spine of the Invincibles in 2004 when serving as a coach and looks forward to pitting his wits against Arsene Wenger
I maintain a credulous respect to Arsene and look forward to challenging him. I will take nothing forgranted and my return will be a mere shadow of the occasion -
Jan Boerrig

Easy decision, right?

Are you guys enjoying the save ? Would you like anything in particular to be done ?
Let me know and share your opinions below!

Not an incredible amount to say but one conceeded in four games is very solid defending

SCHALKE SHOCK ?

Schalke 04 have done nothing but sparkle since the first day of Jan Boerrig's reign and nothing changed this month. Extending their winning streak to 12 in all competitions. The Konigblauen side are on top of the league with a mere two goals conceded.
We are quality going forward but have been excellent at the back, this defence can grow to be a legacy -jan boerrig
We understand every tactical aspect and the coaches ideas are clear, he motivates like a political revolutionary and can guide us to wherever he feels appropriate. We trust him with that -Max Meyer
