ARRIVAL OF WINTER BREAK SIGNIFIES GOOD START FOR SCHALKE
Schalke 04 sit at the top of the Bundesliga at the halfway mark and many believe they can go all the way. Their classy attacking football has gained them respect from all over Germany and with a very respectable 1st place finish in Europe, they are being touted as the dark horse of the competition, despite being drawn against MAN. CITY in the knock-out round. Schalke have beaten Guardiola's Bayern and turned in some magnificent performances and remain on course for what would be a revolutionary treble.

Boerrig, however, the architect of this dynasty, remains intent on distancing himself and his team from the title race. He has revealed, however, more about his blueprint after signing Kevin Volland for ?12.75 million today.
Despite the signing of Volland, it looks like the Schalke board will stop the spending until the Summer, with loan repayments of 1 million being paid monthly, Boerrig will have to steer the club financially as well as managerially if he is to succeed with this master plaN
