Get Fellaini as defensive midfielder and try and get maybe Thiago from Barca or play Cleverley or train Kagawa to be a natural centre midfielder :)
 
Or you can get a defensive midfielder who plays for Cagliari who is from Beligum, Naingollan or something weird along them lines, good player though!
 
I had a big for like 20 mil or so (maybe even 15 mil) accepted for cabaye. Though could get Kroos for a little more so didn't bother.

And then my Neymar bid got accepted and I said **** midfield recruits, I'm blowing my budget!
 
IRL, Will Hughes from Derby has been earmarked as his successor, according to the Manchester Evening News, but not sure whether he's particularly suited to it on FM
 
Why replace fletcher? he is class and in my save,the rebuild of united he is in top form,the players that i have got in are,the benders and Ander Herrera and mountinho from porto.
 
I got Fellaini for £5m plus Anderson on the Demo this morning ;)

I'm now in 2014, I brought in Fellaini as a DM for 14.5m and Huddlestone for 17m, Fellaini has been a bit disappointing, Huddlestone has been a rock in my midfield.

At the start of 2014 I sold Anderson and brought in Alex Witzel for 17.5m and thinking along the same lines as you about replacing Scholes and Fletcher, I brought in M'vila 34m and was looking at buying Ramsey to replace scholes but Arsenal wanted over 50m so I took a punt and signed Strootman from PSV for 6.5 and am glad to say its paid off.

I also wanted to sign Bale as a replacement for Young but Totttenham wouldn't sell for love or money so I brought a regen called Ewan Jacquet from Servette for 2.4m who is giving Nani and Kagawa a run for their money for a place in the starting eleven so now its a case of who's Bale ?.

On a side note have to agree with you about FM13, would have commented on your other thread but it was closed before I got round to reading it. My feelings are that without any real competition over the last 2 or 3 years SI Games have become complacent and in my eyes the whole beta release was nothing more than a marketing ploy to get people to buy the game before anyone realised how bad this years version is.
 
Ganso was a superb CM in FM 2012.. if you retrain him in 13 for that position he'll be a monster.. superb vision and passing
 
Sandro from Tottenham is top quality. Victor Wanyama from Celtic is brilliant for a DM aswell, good strength and defensive stats. Sandro's passing is insane and he can put in a tackle aswell.
