Celtic bow out with heads held high
* Update dated; 21st March 2009. Fancied pushing ahead so haven't updated for few game months.
Champions League update
Eliminated from the competition, drew Barcelona in the 1st round knockout and earned a precious 2-2 result at Celtic park which gave me real optimism for the second leg at the mighty Nou Camp, both legs were obviously sell outs. Second leg got hammered 5-1 after a beautiful performance by Messi who couldn't be stopped whatsoever, i am really proud of my players efforts none the less they performed beyond all expectations and got out of a tough group whilst the fixtures came thick and fast in the league it made the Champions League a big highlight for this season. Hopefully in a few season's i'll be able to achieve my dream of taking them all the way.
League update
Currently sitting top of the table with 88 points, whilst 2nd sit West Brom on 81 so that's the league won in my opinion with only half a dozen games left i shouldn't lose such a lead. Goal differance is +58 which is like a extra point on the table which also give's me a very good advantage. There have been lot's of 3-0 win's for example the season has gone really really well and Christian Eriksen has performed well and lived upto all expectation. Hopefully this season won't be my biggest achievement and better things are to come because i have a very good squad of players with a few star individuals.
Key players
I pointed out Eriksen in the league update so i won't hark on about him much in this but he really has improved my squad, coming on for 20 minutes to start with he became updroppable except for the Barcelona game when i tried to sneak a 1-0 win away which failed drastically. Robbie Keane's goalscoring form has returned with 13 goals so far from 29 league games with 13 assists and 6 (SIX) man of the match awards, he has been a true leader of this team and in my opinion could have single handedly won us promotion. Another player to impress recently was a player i knew little of before i took over Celtic, Danish striker Morten Rasmussen has scored 9 in 13 which is prolific at any level he's a player that i will be using next season for definate amazed he only has one cap for his country.
Next season
The main question here is; Will i keep Robbie Keane ?

Pre season update 24th june 2010
There have been many a change at Celtic park as of late one major point of happiness for manager Ben Graham is the boards announcement that the stadium capacity will be improved by 14'650 seats eventually taking the total fans in the ground to over 70'000 which will rival Manchester United's current capacity and be a major source of revenue funding future transfers etc. Graham is said to be pleased at everything going on at the club and has stated the current chairman is the best man he's ever worked with. The project of stadium increasing in size is set to cost £19.5million but this won't affect Graham's budget.
On the player side of things at the club Graham was happy to announce Aiden McGeady has signed a new 4 year contract at the club, this deal wasn't needed so to speak because the player was tied up for another couple of season's but Graham is keen to make sure McGeady stays with the club whilst he is manager.
Comings and goings from the club have been swift and decisive with many players mainly youth not having contracts renewed, Graham stated this is a top job he has at a top club and he needs top players to keep the pride of the Glasgow giants and anyone not deemed good enough will be told. 7 players are currently looking for clubs after Graham overlooked there plea's for new deals. New players coming in are Craig Cathcart on a free after being released by Manchester United, Graham Dorrans of West Brom for a fee of £10million, Edson Braafheid of Bayern Munich for undisclosed fee.
This morning news has broke that Celtics first tie is a juicy away encounter with Sir Alex Fergusons Manchester United side. Graham has already thrown caution at the prestigious manager Sir Alex by saying his Celtic team have the potential to knock him 'off his perch' and that Brian Clough was a more celebrated manager. Celtic are long shot's at a title bid according to SKYbet.com which gives them a 1000-1 chance of gaining the trophy, only time will tell ...
