Scout Report Fail. lol!!

Im in my arsenal save and it already season 25/26 were loads of regens pop up.

now i go to Genie Scout and try to find some fantastic regens, and i found this center half.

Nze has got a PA of 193, and has a dual nationality, Gabonese and French, so WP is not a problem.

but the twist is when i tell my scouts to scout him in the game, the report is pretty low. like they rate his PA with 1.5 stars and a decent signing.

is it a glitch or something, or there are other reasons to tell. i certainly dont think it racism or something, cuz i also got so get african regen too and both go a good scout report. only this time someone with a 193 pa got a bad report.

wtf is wrong with my scout ???
 
Probably because he is in a league your scouts don't know much about. Try scouting him for a few games instead of just a report.

Also what are your scouts stats for Judging Potential?
 
well i have an african scout, ralph nkomo, and is pa/ca is like 19/20 i think.

its strange, cuz i other two i metion, african regen were also scouted by him, ralph, and he says they are a great buy.
will that was like 5-7 years ago, and i have only one of them, who is Sudanese, and the other when to villa, Zambain worldclass cb.

i let ralph scout eastern europe, and he's doing well imo, find some great players.
 
Golden rule of FM:

Never, and I mean NEVER trust your scout reports...

I have a 19 year old with a PA of 198 and he only has 3.5* potential according to my best scouts...
 
A lot of the African clubs have very poor reputation and very poor facilities.

PA can be affected by this.

Lets use Nze as a prime example. He may have a ton of actual potential, but while he is at mangasport he will NEVER reach it (will only reach 1.5 stars instead of 5). If he moves to a top club he will be able to fulfill his potential and will show 4.5-5 stars.

I sign a lot of africans and I know this to be a FACT. I've signed 2 star players from Africa who are actually 5 star when they get to my club. The thing you need to know about scouting africa is to look at their attributes and NOT THE STAR RATING. If a player has solid stats (sometimes you can find players with outstanding stats) but a low star rating, SIGN HIM, he will be a wonderkid. Just last season in my save I signed a 1.5 star Nigerian AMC with 18 dribbling 19 technique 15 creativity and 18 passing...He's obviously 5 star now that he can reach his potential.

And while I'm at it, my current team doesn't have the best training facilities. I've had young players who had 4.5 PA lose their PA after a couple of years because my facilities are only adequate. When I sell these players to better teams with better facilities, their PA shoots back up to 4.5 or even 5.

lol man.

they give like 3.5 cuz its an average if he fits in the squad.

like they will tell whether if he will be better than ur current player in that position.
and sometimes will rank its position, like the 5th best striker or whatever if he joins the squad.
 
I always feel a bit bad when I use Genie Scout, and this is the main reason. I try to use it as less as I can because sometimes scouts despite their potential judging will be total shi*heads when it comes to scouting youngsters.

thanks man. u sure a a 'mordern day legend'. lol
well the winter transfer window already passed, so i will look at taking him on the following summer. ;P

but i like having like a multinational squad, mix of different nations. :)

Completely irrelevant

Scouting knowledge is only used to show more players in "player search" and to increase odds of getting a foreign nationality regen in your youth system.

Me too, makes things interesting IMO. I love getting quality players from odd nations.

Also another thing to note: Do you notice Nze's high determination, and workrate? That means he pushes himself harder than most other people. Which means he will train hard and become a better player. Now not every high PA player has these stats, but it's something I always look for when determining whether a player has potential.

You just need to take risks when signing africans. I usually sign three 4 star or higher African regens for every 1 african regen that has 3 potential or lower. You need to accept that you'll miss sometimes but at least you tried. On the bright side you can usually sell those players for far more than you bought them.

Are you sure about that mate? So if I send a scout to Croatia and he has no Scouting Knowledge of it will he be able to bring me reports of the croatian "Hot Prospects"?

I always try to judge the players by looking at their attributes, and then when they come to my team I'll check them on Genie Scout, and there's still a bit of disagreements between my scouts and Genie Scout. Altough sometimes I have my doubts too about Genie Scout. I think the best way is to judge 'em yourself like you said.

I find scouting knowledge makes little difference when you send a player to a nation he has knowledge of. As in your example, the scout will still give you reports of 1 star players, despite him knowing the nation. I'm almost 100% sure scouting knowledge doesn't mean they will give you scouting reports of the best players (even though that is probably how it should be!)

I only use scouting knowledge so I can go to player search and have the entire list of players from that nation. For instance I always sign a Nigerian scout, once I do I can search through all the players within that nation. Without the nigerian scout, I would have to manually go to each Nigerian team and look at their rosters.

right i see what u mean. well ralph is knowleage able in africa , like the west side (ivory coast, etc)

That's now what scouting knowledge is, scouting knowledge is how much scouts know about countries and it's displayed in horizontal bars directly below his contract information on the right side of the screen. Check another scout other than Nkomo and you'll see what I mean
