Sell On Clause!!!!

First off I apologise if this has been asked in the past but..........

Say for example Manchester United sold Hernandez to Real Madrid for £50m but inserted a sell on clause of say 50% and then later re-signed him from Real Madrid would the fee be reduced by 50% or would it be void due to the players former club re-signing him??

the fee would be reduced by 50%, even £25m would be a bit much for him though : P
