Valencia was born to play RW/attack, and putting him anywhere else is kind of a waste. Its because you not only have to re-train his position, but all his PPMs (and his poor left foot) are geared toward gunning up and down the right wing.
I would think you'd need a backup formation that uses wingers, regardless, and you can use Valencia in those situations. You'll always find times when you need more width, or are going against a weak LB that you can take advantage of. He is probably the deadliest winger in the game.
