Morecambe
Morcambe FC were a club founded in 1920 in Lancashire, England. Until 2010, they played there home matches at Christie Park when they moved into the newly built, 6,476 capacity Globe Arena. There best ever league finish came in 2010, when they finished 4th in Npower League 2, only to lose in the play-off semi final. Morecambe's most resent silverware came in 2007, wining the Blue Square Premier Playoff final against Exeter at Wembley.

The most influential managers at Morecambe have been Sammy Mcllroy and Jim Bentley who have a long playing career at the club. Former Manchester United player Mcllroy, was the manager from 2005-2011, guiding the team to promotion on one occasion. Bentley, who played for the club for that time, was influential in the promotion season.

Currently the club has adequate training and minimal youth facitities due to the small budget with which they work. Chairman Peter McGuigan is very fond of the club and wishes to accumulate enough money to develop the facilities to a higher standard.

Just days away from the first game in the Capital one cup but there is still time for suggestions for players. Mostly in need of a left midfielder. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Setting the Foundations
17th July 2012: To the suprise and anger of the Morcambe fans, manager Jim Bentley has been replaced by completely unknown English manager, FM Lect. Bentley said that he was shocked that he had been replaced, but wished FM Lect luck for the future. Chairman Peter McGuigan has received much critisism for the decision from media and fans alike, and it is questioned whether the shrimps league performance could be affected as a result.

19th July 2012: Morecambe have announced that a complete overhaul of staff has taken place. A total of 7 staff have had there contracts terminated, to be replaced by 8 others. Only one member of staff has retained their job, Under 18's Manager Dickey Danson the soul remainder.

19th July 2012: Morcambe have been given a tough Capital One Cup tie away to Blackpool. Morecambe will have their work cut out to reach the next round in a competition they are not favored in to say the least. The tie will be played at Bloomfield road on the 14th August at 19:45.

20th July 2012: French striker Ahmed Saukouna has signed for Morecambe on a free trasfer. Saukouna, who has been without a club since he was released from Angers on 2010, said that he was pleased to have signed for a club, and it was a great opportunity to get first team football once again. Saukouna, 22, is thought to be on a contract of £1,400 a week, with the chance of that rising to £1,800 after 10 games.

24th July 2012: Morecambe have announced the signing of Irish winger Kevin Thornton. Thornton, who was signed on a free, is on a £700 a week contract until 2014. The 26 year old will provide much needed depth for Morecambe in what is a very small squad.

27th July 2012: Morecambe have began their pre season training camp in England today. Manager FM Lect has stated that he hoped the camp would increase the players fitness for the forthcoming season, and give a change for the players to get used to his tactics. Morecambe will play a total of 4 pre season friendlies before the first game against Blackpool.

Dusting off the Boots

28th July 2012: Burnley have today snatched a late equaliser against Morecambe to draw one all at the Globe Arena. Throughout the game Burnley had had the better of the possession and had more shots overall. Izak Reid began the scoring for Morecambe after 38 minutes with a driving effort from just inside the box which goalkeeper Jensen could only palm into the roof of his own net. Burnley were nonclinical from their shots of which they had 18 in total right until the 90th minute where a curling Cameron Howieson effort hit the inside of Barry Roche's left hand post before bulging in the back of the net. FM Lect said that he was pleased to have gained a draw against Championship Burnley, but disappointed to concede such a late goal.

31st July 2012: Morecambe have ran out 4-1 away winners at Workshop today. Goals from Chris McCready and Andrew Wright came either side of 2 Danny Carlton strikes for the Shrimps.
McCready started the scoring in the 14th minute when a Thornton freekick found McCready unmarked at the near post for him to power home. Just 2 minutes later, a long ball forward from winger Mark Ellison sent Danny Carlton through on goal. From a tight angle he hit the near post first time around only to slot the ball through the legs of Workshop keeper Paul Bastock at the second time of asking. Workshop found a glimmer of hope with a goal in the 49th minute from Anthony Arnold. He struck a 30 yard free kick in the top corner leaving Roche stranded and getting Workshop back into the game. Those hopes were one again dashed however when a foul on Ellison by McGuire resulted in an 80th minute penalty for Morecambe. Danny Carlton then sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 3-1.
Morecambe capped off an impressive win in the 89th minute when Reid pulled a ball back towards the penalty spot for Andrew Wright to fire home. Morecambe's dominance of the game is shown by the 59% possession they boasted after the game.

2nd August 2012: Morecambe have announced the signing of Ghanaian centre back Eric Addo this morning on a free transfer. The 33 year old is Morecambe's 3rd signing of the window and it is hoped that his experience will help guide Morecambe to a respectable league position this year. As he is on just £800 a week it is thought that there is still enough money left for a few more signings before the window slams shut at the end of the month.

2nd August 2012: Morecambe have slumped to a 2-1 loss to Corby this evening at Steel Park. They did however take the lead in the 39th minute when Nick Fenton headed a near post corner into the back of the Corby net. From that moment on they were expected to run out comfortable winners however were shocked in the 46th minute when Ricky Miller got through on goal before out-maneuvering defender Addo and Finding the back of the net. Corby continued to press throughout the second half and found the winning goal in the 74th minute when Richardson's long range effort took a wicked deflection of his own player before looping over the head of keeper Roche. Morecambe have more shots that Corby and dominated the concluding minutes but failed to make their chances pay. After the match FM Lect openly critisied Roche saying that he should have comfortably saved the winning goal.

3rd August 2012: The Morecambe board have announced a new affiliation link with Championship club Middlesbrough. Chairman
Peter McGuigan said that they could sign cheap loan deals from the club and garner some extra income.

4th August 2012: Morecambe have lost their final pre season game away to Southport this afternoon.
Things looked good for the Lancishire club when a well worked move was capped off by Ahmed Saukouna in the 19th minute. However, the equaliser came in the 39th minute when a ball was pulled back to Duyile to finish into an empty net. Morecambe were struggling throughout the first half and would have been pleased to go in level after a dismal first half display but Southport took the lead in the 44th minute when a Duyile free kick hit the bar before deflecting of the back of keeper Roche. The ball fell to Darren Stephenson who pounced on the opportunity. Although Morecambe had the better of the stats, they play in general was lackluster is most area's.

7th August 2012: Wouter Jansen has today signed for Morecambe on a free transfer becoming the clubs 4th signing of the window. The 31 year old winger, from Curacao, is expected to be a big hit at Morecambe according to former legend, Sammy Mcllroy. Jansen, who is a much needed addition in the wing department, is on just £500 a week until 2014
.

8th August 2012: Bolton have agreed a loan move for 19 year old Joe McKee to Morecambe for the rest of the 2012/13 season. The Scottish centre midfielder becomes Morecambe's 5th addition of the window, giving cover in the centre midfield. Morecambe are paying £200 of the £500 a week wages for the player meaning that the clubs finances are not at risk. Morecambe manager Henson said, "We needed cover for the centre midfield so Joe is a perfect addition."

8th August 2012: A total of 8 players have been released from Morecambe today
, causing unease amongst some players. All 8 had been on the transfer list since FM Lect had taken charge in July, and Lect said that they were simply not needed. The worry that more releases are to come has been put to bed by Lect in the last hour however, saying, "All of the players I wish to sell have gone."

Back in Action
14th August 2012: Morecambe have returned to competitive action against Blackpool in the Capital One Cup today. The game was FM Lect's first competitive match as manager but one not to look forward to. Morecambe had been placed a 10-1 to win before the game and were expected to lose heavely. Lect sent his team out in a defensive 4-4-2 formation which kept Blackpool at bay until the 55th minute when a strike from the edge of the area from Elliot Grandin nessled in the bottom corner of Roche's net. Grandin's goal proved to be the only in a game which Blackpool dominated from the off and deservidly won. After the game FM Lect reflected on the game saying that his team should be proud to have defended so well.

17th August 2012: Morecambe have announced to signing of Ayr winger Michael McGowan for £31k. It is understood that the Shrimps will pay £9k up front and the other £22k over 48 months. The Northan Irishman, 27, made 33 appearances for Ayr last season, notching up just 4 goals. Morecambe will be hoping that McGowan can give some much needed strength in the wing position, bolstering there attacking strength.

18th August 2012: Burton have came out of there first league game of the season with a win today, coming out victorious against a poor Morecambe team. The fans were far from happy at the Globe Arena after a lackluster Morecambe performance. The only goal of the game came in the 47th minute when Billy Key was sloted through on goal by Richards, finishing clinicly past Roche. There was a glimmer of hope for Morecambe in the 71st minute when Jack Dyer was sent off for a second bookable affence, having been booked 13 minutes earlier. Morecambe however failed to capitilise, resulting in the first league game of the season being a home defeat.

21st Ausust 2012: FM Lect is has suffered a 3rd straight defeat as Morecambe manager today, his team going down 2-1 at Altershot. Craig Reid began the scoring for Aldershot in the 8th minute running past both Morecambe center backs to score past Roche. Morecambe found an equaliser in the 39th minute through new signing McGowan after a wonderfully crafted move, finishing clinicaly. Alex Rodman found the decicive Aldershot winner on the 74th minute, finding the gap between Morecambes center back and right back before firing home. After the match FM Lect blamed a lack of potancy upfront - understandable as just 3 of there 12 shots found the target.

25th August 2012: Morecambe have found their first win of the season today, coming away with a 2-0 home victory against Gillingham. FM Lect came away very pleased with his sides impressive performance. Andy Flemming began the scoring in the 54th minute with a powerful strike into the top corner. The scoring was completed in the 75th minute with a goal from Lewis Alessandra. Alessandra was put through on goal before holding up the ball and firing past a stranded Gillingham keeper.

I apoligise for any mistakes in the posts. Please just egnore them as I try to notice as many as possible but there are bound to be some left.
