NEWCASTLE UNITED START CAMPANGE WITH A VICTORY
15th August 2010

View attachment 100986View attachment 100985

Newcastle start their Premier League campange with a victory over newly promoted Blackpool.
In a game that saw Newcastle dominate the field of play, it was Kevin Nolan who created much of newcastles chances. It took Shearers men a good 45mins to break down blackpool, and the goal came when Tom Cleverly squared the ball to Nolan on the edge of the box.

Second half saw much the same for Newcastle. Blackpool conceded a penalty within the first 7 minutes, which Andy Carroll squandered. But ten minutes later made up for his mistake to score a graet solo effort.

UNITED SNACTH VICTORY AS SMITH SEES RED

Alan Shearer was made welcome by Blackburn supporters before the start of the game but it was his Newcastle side that grabbed all the points in this exciting encounter.
Shearer made three changes that played against Blackpool, with Ryan Taylor, Andy Carroll and Tom Cleverly not reaching peak fitness, in their place was Danny Simpson, Shola Ameobi and debutant Roque Santa Cruz.

View attachment 101024View attachment 101025]View attachment 101026

The Game started fairly slow until Juan Pablo Caffas free kick, brought the game to life. Former tailsman Santa Cruz broke Rovers hearts again by equalizing with a low drive into Robinsons left hand side. All of a sudden the contest came to life with both sides having attempts on goal. But it was Jonas, whose individual effort that gave United all three points.

With half an hour into the second half Alan Smith was sent off with a second booking, which then resulted in blackburn throwing everything, but the kitchen sink.
Shearers men held out at the end with a deserved three points.

This is two wins out of two for the Toon Army, which should delight the fans, especially away from home.

TALK OF THE TOON
22nd August 2010
View attachment 101248View attachment 101249

When Alan Shearer woke up this morning I bet he didnt expect to get much out of this game with Arsenal. By the end of the whistle it was Arsene Wenger who was proberly thinking what went wrong. Newcastle marked their return to St James's Park in magnifcent style.

View attachment 101250View attachment 101251

Xisco could have scored early on but it was Peter Lovenkrads penalty which sent the toon army fans into raptures. after Sagna brought him down in the box. this was followed by a good counter attack which saw Nolan thred through a 20 yard pass to Jonas, who rounded helpless Almunia to tap it in the net. I dont think Arsenal knew what it them. Robin van Persie pulled one back for the gunners just before half time with a well struck freekick.

View attachment 101253View attachment 101254View attachment 101255

It was Nolan again who found Andy Carroll in acres of space, which then all he did was square the ball to Jonas who fired it past Manuel. And just before the final whitle Lovenkrads corner was converted by new boy Danny Gosling blasting it from 5 yards out. 4 - 1 the final result.

View attachment 101258View attachment 101259

Alan Shearer was lost for words in the interview, but did had " Maybe one or two will get carried away but we are under no illusions. Its going to be a long, hard season. This has been a fanastic day, the support was magnificent and credit to the team who played out of their skins. " no one will get carried away".

View attachment 101260View attachment 101261

Wenger stated " Newcastle thoroughly deserved this, as Shearer tactics were spot on".

Another fine perfomance from the Toon Army which saw eight changes to the team that beat Arsenal, four days ago. Goals from Ameobi and Jonas Gutierrez gave Newcastle a 2 - 0 half time lead. The game was wraped up for Newcastle after a brilliant second half display from Leon Best who took the match ball home, and a late conculation for Palace after a own goal from Tom Cleverly. A good overall proformance for Newcastle which has put them into the 3rd Round of the Carling cup.

STOKE GO DOWN TO 9-MAN NEWCASTLE

View attachment 101318

Alan Shearer had a bit of luck on his side today, as Newcastle kept there 100% league record intact. The game never really got going until the 67 minutes when Coloccini was shown a straight red card after his reckless challange on Rotan. Things got worse for Shearers men when Sol Campbell saw red 5 minutes later.

View attachment 101316View attachment 101317

Stoke applied all the pressure with efforts from Huth, Jones and Etherington but it was Steve Harper who had to come to Uniteds rescue. From out of nowhere Peter Lovenkrads reverse pass to the in-form Jonas Gutierrez(5goals in the last 4games) scored with great composure.

Alan Shearer also heaped praise on the team by saying " Even when playing with ten men it can be difficult, but with nine, this shows great spirit and desire to win the match. Iam please with this result".

Kuyt ends Shearers 100% record, with two great strikes. This was an eagerly antisapated contest between two sides, who are in good form. With Fabio Coloccini and vetran Sol Campbell suspended and Steven Taylor still recovering from injury, it was up to Mike Williamson and new boy James Perch to form a solid partnership.

View attachment 101497View attachment 101498

Joe Cole scored his first goal for his new club with a hit freekick, to set the tempo for the rest of the game, Liverpool were pegged back moments later, after a pin point cross from Lovenkrads found Santa Cruz's head.

View attachment 101490View attachment 101489View attachment 101491

Fast forward 17 minutes later and it was Liverpool who went ahead. Lucas put Dirk Kuyt clear, his first touch was sublime and his second burried the ball past keeper Steve Harper.
James Perch was struggling to keep pace with Kuyt for much of the first half, and it showed with his lack of anticipation, when Lucas thread through a simple pass to kuyt for his second goal.

Tamas Kadar was brought on at half time, which made some impact, Newcastle started the game with belief that they could get something out of this. But it was not be this time round.

Shearer told BBC Sport " It was just one of those days, we had the oppotunities to put our chances away, and that was the differance today.
