It was the 28th June 2011, a week earlier the club id grew up as a boy supporting and spent 10 years of my football career playing for, the mighty Newcastle United had sacked manager Alan Pardew and speculation had began as to who Chairman Mike Ashley would pick to replace Pardew, even though I had a short stint as caretaker manager in 2009 and decided not to become the permanent manager i had been made 2-1 bookmakers favourites and everywhere in the news was saying i would be the boards favourite choice.

After speaking with my wife Lainya and a week of negotiations with the Newcastle board I decided that I wanted to be the man to restore some pride back into the club I loved and make Newcastle United once more one of europes top teams.

I was officially appointed the Newcastle manager on the 5th July 2011

I attended my first press conference as the new magpie manager, and promised the Newcastle fans entertainment and i intend to keep my promise and lead the club I love to glory!!!

lol, i know Newcastle are practically a French team now lol

I knew i had to bring in some new players I wanted to make my own stamp on the team and recruit some of my own players and also get rid of anyone who I did not feel would fit into my first team plans, although it was only the end of pre-season I had bought in 6 new players, most notably Lenny Nangis for 2.7 mil, he is a young French forward who is destined for greatness, I am more than looking forward to seeing him play in a Newcastle shirt. Other new signings included: View attachment 212916 however there is still a month left of the transfer window so thre may still be additions and departures to my Newcastle revolution.

So a month into my new job and pre season was over, it was a mix of emotions during pre-season with a surprising 0-0 draw to Carlisle, even though it was only pre-season and a friendly I wondered if draws against lower division teams were a sign of things to come, however a major highlight and morale booster during pre-season was a 2-1 win over 6 times La Liga winners Valencia.

Start of the 2011/12 Premiership Season

August review

Our first game was against Blackburn away.

13.8.2011

Blackburn 0-0 Newcastle

Formation: 4-5-1
Line up:
Krul, Santon, Topal, Coloccini, Bridge, Tioté, Gosling(sub 64), Cabaye, Nangis, Gutiérrez, Ba(sub 64)

Used subs: Gilberto(on 64), E.Hernández(on 64)

A 0-0 draw, not a bad result when away from home major plus points where the defence seemed strong and Mehmet Topal seemed to fit right in with Coloccini in the middle of defence, Demba Ba picked up a slight knock and hopefully wont be out for to long.

20.8.2011

Newcastle 2-0 Norwich
Cabaye
Coloccini

Formation: 4-5-1
Line up:

Krul, Santon, Topal, Coloccini, Bridge, Tioté, Gosling, Cabaye, Hernández(sub 67), Gutiérrez(sub 67), Nangis

Used subs: Saúl(on 67), Obertan(on 67)

A solid performance from my lads out there, defence was on top form again keeping another clean sheet also a powerfulheader scored by Coloccini, however man of the match and easily the best playeron the pitch was Yohan Cabaye with an assist and a spectacular goal which willsurely be a contender for goal of the month, he really showed just what talenthe has got in this game today.

Carling Cup 2nd round

24.8.2011

Southampton 0-2 Newcastle
Cabaye
Obertan

Formation: 4-4-2
Line up:
Krul, Simpson, Taylor, Coloccini, Bridge, Gutiérrez, Tioté(sub 96), Cabaye, Gilberto(sub 83), Ranger, Lovenkrands(sub 73)

Used subs: Obertan(on 73), E.Hernández(on 83), Smith(on 96)

Our first cup game of the season and yet again another clean sheet 3 in a row now, good performances from Cabaye and Krul again, very dissapointed with Gutiérrez' red card for two needless fouls on Southampton's Lallana.

28.8.2011

Stoke 2-1 Newcastle
Taylor o.g Cabaye
Crouch

Formation: 4-5-1
Line up:
Krul, Santon, Taylor, Coloccini, Bridge, Topal, Tioté, Cabaye, Nangis, Hernández, Ba(sub 33)

Used subs: Obertan(on 33)

Playing against Stoke at the Britannia was always going to be a difficult game but i did think that with the good form my Newcastle team as been in at the start of the season that we could at least get a point out of this game, but i guess it will just have to be seen as a learning curb, one positive was Cabaye performance again he scored his 3rd goal in as many games and is really impressing at the moment.

I feel August was an alright month, with one loss, one draw and one win in the league but also progress in the cup which is always a good thing, as for the transfer window round-up, i didnt buy anymore players after pre-season in total there were 6 Arrivals and 11 Departures: View attachment 212931

We find ourselves 10th in the league and my Newcastle player of month award goes to
Yohan Cabaye for his consistent performances and for winning the Premiership goal of the month also, as i had earlier predicted he would:

Although August wasnt a bad month lets hope September is an even better month with more improvements and good performances.
