I took charge of united in 15/16 season after 8 games. I've van persie striking goal after goal in games and for future I've Mitrovic. Rooney doesnt fit in my squad right now, should I sell him?

I'm asking this because rooney is 30 and persir is 32. will it be a problem in coming seasons?

If he dont fit in, just sell him and buy a player who will fit in..

Pretty sure he's a United legend on the game.. That could have an impact on the fans/ boards opinion on you. Also, it's unlikely you'd get very good offers for him.

On my save he isn't incredible but I don't see the point in selling him.. Might as well just keep him for the sake of it.

Great tutor, but if you can somehow get 20m+ for him at that age, sell him. Save some wages too.

I would, never rated him, still don't rate him, don't think I ever will rate him

Defo keep him! I sold him on one old save the fans group were devastated and the boards confidence went down on me major!

This is both actually, I don't see anything special and he's 28?
This may seem a bit harsh, but i personally think that you're deluded. He's been a key figure for everything that Manchester United have done over the past 10 years. Despite playing about half of his United games as a number 10, he has scored over a goal every 2 games, which is very good. I also think that the fact that you don't see anything special is ridiculous. If you watch him, and just him, for one game, you see how good of a player he is. He contributes all over the field, has great determination and a passion to win. That combined with his wide range of passing, dribbling and shooting abilities, and his pace and strength, make him a special player. He also has just under a goal every 2 games for England, which shows his quality.

Sorry if it looks like i've gone too far, too defensive or on a rant, but i just love Wayne Rooney as a player.

It's ok to rant, not a problem at all, but you don't have to convince me (and many other individuals who feel the same way) as it's my opinion. I gather you're a man u fan so it's absolutely understandable as well as you confessed you love him so you would back him no matter what.

Personally, he's an ok player, when I say I don't see it, I meant like when people tag him "world class" and frankly I feel that word has been absolutely abused in recent years. One even compared Rooney to be on the same level as Ronaldo and Messi which is absolutely ludicrous, there are tons way better, and he's just one of the typical overpriced, overrated English players. Neymar, RVP, Messi and the likes are literary carrying their nations in the world cup, Rooney has only scored his 1st world cup goal for England, wow. And this world cup he was nowhere the best English player who shun, there were a few who actually rose to the occasion.

He does have a glimpse of flashes here and there, so does any other player, hence why I don't see what's "special". I'd love to see him be the best English player in a tournament not when he's surrounded by top players with a top manager in Fergie and you think it's Rooney who's brought man u it's success, no, it's Fergie, which we have seen since he retired.

I would sell him as there are many other players that would be better and could be picked up for less than you sell Rooney for...

Alright, you guys are awesome. I've decided to sell him after this season but chelsea seems to be interested and i would never sell him to them. Mitrovic is awesome striker and i also have A.Henriquez as 3rd option so i think its wise to let rooney go.

When has Messi carried his country hes been shocking for Argentina that is why he can never be hailed as better than DM hes been average this world cup but scored a few beauties and Neymar is the most over rated footballer i have ever seen even the commentators know it they are just not aloud to say it and he will never be cose to Messi/Ronaldo FACT. to be honest Bale.Suarez.Hazard and Rodriguez are a **** of a lot better.

You're bypassing that even in an abysmal season for Manchester United as a club, Rooney has scored 17 goals, and got 10 assists in 29 appearances, with the vast majority of that coming as a number 10. While at the time Rooney could have been considered overpriced, over the last 10 years the amount of money that his goals have brought to the club has been astonishing, and he has more than payed that back.

And when you were saying about Neymar, RVP and Messi carrying their nations (before the 'wow') you seemingly 'forgot' Ronaldo, honest mistake? Balon D'or winner, yet has only scored 2 world cup goals. It's not only Rooney mate.

And who exactly were the few English players that shone? The only one that i'd consider to have impressed is Raheem Sterling. Rooney also has way more pressure on him than any other English player, because he knows that if England don't win he'll get blamed. The argument about Ferguson is also invalid in my opinion. Yes, he was an incredible manager and we may never see another manager like him at United, but Rooney's stats don't lie, Rooney has also performed under Moyes, as i have previously stated, in a team that was no where near as special as other teams that he's been in.

If Rooney wasn't special he wouldn't be so highly considered by managers such as Fergie and Mourinho, the latter allegedly wanting to pay £40 million for him at Chelsea.

Agreed, people dont seem to appreciate the things he does for the team and only judge him based on goals.. He is a great passer and team player and he works hard on both ends.. He is often played deep instead of a pure striker..

I'm a Liverpool fan but I totally agree with you. Rooney is special. He's a great player who is always harshly criticized by fans and the media when things go wrong because he's one of the very few special players this country has produced in recent years. It always seems to be his fault and that's a shame because players like him should be celebrated not lambasted for the failures of managers or his fellow players.

I sold him to Real Madrid for an initial £25M and a further £20M spread over 32 weeks, then brought in an unhappy Pogba and a lot of other young players.

Anyway in the game I don't like him, he's arrogant and expects to start ahead of a superior player (Juan Mata and RVP). Real Madrid used him as a rotation option.

I love you for this, I hate Rooney with a passion, **** and over rated, should never of played at World Cup but woy hodgson was to scared to drop him, he had one good season at united and done nothing since

Okay this is even worse than Kuliet. Could you please name me the one solitary good season that he's had? Because i believe that the majority have been good. Over 10 goals in every BPL season he's had since he's been at United, despite not always playing at a striker. And he was probably England's best player at the World Cup, 1 goal and 1 assist in 2 starts was more than everyone else.

Was a couple of seasons ago when he scored 20 odd goals in league, think it was the year after ronaldo left to go to Real Madrid, ever since then he has barely done anything, even less now rvp is the main man! He was our best player at the World Cup? Surely you are joking, he scored a tap in, joe hart could of scored that, if he was our bed player then why did the whole nation criticise him?
