Having played FM11, I rarely noticed if Shouts ever benefited the way I play. So, for this reason, I have rarely used them on FM12 too.

Are there huge benefits in trying them, and because I enjoy predominately playing a CA system, which Shout would encourage more through balls (I already have all my creative players instructed to be through balls often)?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

It depends on how much time you are prepared to spend watching the matches. If you play in key highlights and a fast speed, then there is very little chance that you are able to see what is going on on the pitch, hence making your decision of what shouts to use much, much harder. But if you like to analyze and look at the flow of the game, then shouts is a great way of mastering the game

Thanks TBH.

For some masochistic reason, I do watch full games
more often than not (unless I am not creating much and especially if I am loosing). I've always believed leaving the highlights to their own devices maybe too much of a gamble, and it doesn't give you the time to see problems and remedy them.

As far as I understand, when you issue a Shout, it changes your instructions. But I do have some manually set instructions, which I understand won't be affected by a Shout?

When I did use Shouts, it was to see exactly how it changed my instructions, and if it did help, I would manually alter the instruction after the game, eg: "cross balls often", which showed me to remove all instructions to the likes of FBs so they performed the action more often. And in this case, I could see a cause and affect.

I'll have a play with them and see what I see.
