I need help with slow defenders. The main question that I am stuck with is the height of the defensive line. Do I play offside or play it safe with a deep line? Could an unconventional deep line with offside trap work? My team comparison to the League (Defence) is 1st in every aspect except pace and acceleration (Both 20th). Any advice?

If you got slow defenders, do not play a high line. The pace will kill you more often than not. But I'm not a tactical guru. Just going off stuff I've ready.

Does it make sense to play one a CB on Cover and a CB on Stopper/Defend with a high line this year? i know last year it didn't work but i might give it a go.

Honestly I wouldn't know. I play two CD's set to defend.

Why do you want to play with a high line so badly? How does a high line fit into the rest of your team instructions?

If you have an Attacking or Control mentality, then you already play with a high defensive line. Moving it up just exposes your center backs even more.

Do your fullbacks have Attack or Wingback/Attack instructions? If so, your fullbacks will expose your defense down the flanks.

Do you have a DMC? A DMC with Anchor Man or Deep Lying Playmaker/Defend will protect the center of your defense. A Halfback will help more defending the flanks.

Naw, with a high line, using slow defenders, you'll be destroyed if you come across a pacy, counter-attacking team. Or just a pacy team in general. I'm not sure about deep-line with offside trap, since I've never used it, but considering you have slow defenders, I wouldn't recommend it - if any of your defenders make a mistake, it's too late to try to correct it.

I don't think playing a high d-line with slow CBs against pacey strikers is fundamentally wrong. The OP mentioned his defenders have the BEST attributes in EVERY aspect except pace, meaning the CBs are very concentrated, make great positioning decisions, dominate in the air during the game. So if the opposing strikers are of lesser quality (lower league table teams maybe) , and playing a high d-line helps you greatly in attacking, then why not push them, let the CBs tightly mark the strikers, they will win the ball back most of the times.

Use a stopper cover combination with a deeper defence. With a high line you'll want it straight for the offside trap so defend.

I wouldn't go offside trap with higher or deeper line....just too risky...if you have slow defenders, drop deeper and stay on feet...more players in your half is advisable to releive pressure on them, a DM or two...
