Small team become very good teams?

Did anyoane notice that after one season team that are considered small teams become very good. In my game, i'm sampdoria, second season, Catania, Cagliari, Chievo are top 3 half way into the season, and teams like Milan, Inter, Lazio, Roma and Fiorentina are in the second half of the table.

What about Juve? That would not surprise me to be honest. Serie A is not a stable league & i never start a save there until after 10-15 years on once the top clubs have good regens. I am not sure if its a case of small teams being very good or top teams being bad

Catania has some good players and I've often seen them in high positions but on my current save they got relegated first season. Was tempted by a transfer listed Peruzzi but didn't want to blow my whole "just promoted to the Premier League" transfer budget on him.

Weird stuff happens on FM sometimes. Its both good and bad. Fun, yes. Realistic, no.
