One thing that drives me crazy in FM is when players linger on the ball. For isntance when you need a goal why do your team just decide to pass it around the back 4?!?!??

Erm, because its a video game and your players are actually code who doesnt know that you need a goal?! What I mean to say is that the data you change by any change in tactics (eg hitting the overload button) is not enough for the game to let you score so it has to do something to pass the time which looks like dithering to you ...
