Sales

With the stage over, I looked at my players and saw two players that hardly played: Fabian Carmona and Edgardo Fica. So I sold them. Carmona I desparately sold since it was his last last year of contract. And eventually it happened:

The only reason I let Carmona go was because Cifuentes was in unbelievable form. But he too was in his final year of contract and opted to join Cobreloa.

So in came Brazilian Felicio on loan from out parent club:

Facilities Upgrade

We had upgraded our Youth and Training Facilities, and this allowed our Junior Coaching and Youth Recruitment Network to be upgraded so this is out club facilities:

Remember this Wonderkid who moved to Ajax for 5.5 million? Well, an even bigger club came in with an £11.5 million offer

Leaving the table like so:

Finances

Seeing as the balance was 1.5 million and I was planning to improve my Youth Facilites, which cost 1.6 million, I decided that I may need to sell someone at the end of the season. The only players who would be sorely missed would be Urra and Etoundi. With only one half decent backup goalkeeper, I signed another young Goalkeeper.

In Form players

The highlights of the Closing stage have been Urra and loan signing Felicio. Urra has 4 goals and 4 assists in 6 games whilst Felicio has 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 games.

Copa Libertadores Draw

View attachment 351946

Of course Atletico Mineiro are clearly the best team, but the other two are easily beatable. Bolivian side Bolivar we have played in a friendly and won 2-1 and Peruvian side Cesar Vallejo who have won back to back titles and runners up the two seasons before were in our group two years ago and we beat them 3-0 and 3-2. So I have high hopes of reaching the last 16.

Remaing Fixtures and Aims

View attachment 351945

The aims are simple: Win the Closing Stage and Qualify out of the group. At the minimum I expect one or the other with getting both testing the depth of the squad.

The points dropped were all bitterly disappointed. It's left us in a precarious position in both competitions. However, Urra has been on top form, scoring 6 goals in the league and our only goal in the Libertadores. And now he's 3 behind the top league scorer and he's now got the highest average rating in the league.

Citizenship

With this, only our loan signing and Zulu are "foreigners" and Zulu is set to get Chilean citizenship around June.

Youth Intake - The pick of the bunch

Three games later and things have changed for the better

View attachment 351868

Yes there league victories were expected and of course Urra scored 2 in 2. But it was the activity of the other top teams that caught my eye as we look at the table.

View attachment 351867

But the Libertadores draw against Mineiro was a big result. Now I can be fairly confident of going through with 6 more points.

View attachment 351865

However, with Mineiro next, if we can even get a point, then I feel like I should make it through.

International Break

With Urra playing better than ever, there had been calls from the media to bring him back into the squad. And since his form just kept persisting, finally Sampaoli succumbed to the pressure.

View attachment 351864

It's great to see Richard Estay back in the setup too.

View attachment 351852

As you can see, our League Form has been spectacular, putting plenty past every team. However, the disappointing result against Bolivar means we have to win our last game to qualify.

View attachment 351851

With Catolica being my last match, a loss will see a playoff for the title, which is annoying with our vastly supeior goal difference, but we need at least a draw to secure the title.

As you can see, Urra must be a contender for Player of the Year, but not only that, but Golden Boot too. He's played 4 less games than Yanez. So as long as he matches the amount of goals Yanez gets, then he wins it.

Also in terms of Arica records, he's now scored the most goals in one season, with 33. It was previously 28 by Henrique in the previous season. Also he's got the most league goals in one season, 27. The previous record was 24 by Savio, all the way back when we were in D1B. In terms of total league goals, he's got 56, and the club record is Joel Estay with 74. This is most likely going to be broken in the next season.

View attachment 351850

We're still favourites in the match against Cesar Vallejo, so we should still qualify.... on paper. I'd be thoroughly disappointed if we don't manage a single win in the libertadores

Oh men. I expecting your game to qualify in libertadores. It is a hard championship. Good luck

View attachment 350920

As you can see, we strolled this game, and who else to get man of the match but Urra? His two assists show just how vital he is to our team.

View attachment 350919

A less comfortable game but we got through and this time a stellar performance by our other star player, loan signing Julio Felicio. He's just too good for this league. So, we did the double. Winning the opening and closing stage!!

View attachment 350914

Also, overall we finished on 85 points, breaking the record total of 80 points by Colo Colo.

View attachment 350915

Now I set my sights on the Copa Libertadores. The draw had given me Vasco de Gama, a team I had faced two years previously and lost 3-2 on aggregate to.

After this, I requested we improve our youth facilities and they gladly accepted, the cost being 1.5 million. However, the next day the club announced they'd be expanding the stadium by 1,535 seats from 9,746 to 11,281 due to our attendance being at about 96%. This restricted the capacity to 9,000 for what would be 3 league games. However, this sent us into the red.

All season long I'd had 1-2 million offers for my players, so I decided to offload some players so I could continue to upgrade facilities, and because I'd added Vasco de Gama and Verona, along with my present club, Palmeiras as Parent Clubs. I had some great talents to get on loan.

Awards

I picked up a manager of the year award, and Valladares came 2nd yet again as Young Player of the Year. But what annoyed me was that Urra did not get the player of the year when he had by far the highest rating in the league. He came 2nd top scorer with 28 (Highest was 29) but he also had 12 assists.

However, he was in team of the year along with a few others:

Aravena isn't a big loss but Yala was our best CB so I was hoping Gallardo and Farfan would step up this year. Zulu was a miss, but Valladares was proving to be a top RM as well as striker, so I decided to loan two strikers/CAM from Vasco (Also to replace loan signing Felicio)

The New Season

View attachment 350899

As you can see, we've been very impressive. The 3-3 draw was depressing, winning 3-0 with 10 minutes to go, there should be no coming back. Finally we'd won the Super Cup, and of course we breezed through the Group Stages.

View attachment 350898

However, the greatest thing was that Urra had 5 goals in 4 games. But then got injured and won't be back untill November. But Acuna, the loan signing stepped up and has 6 in 6. Sadly, Cardozo, the other signing got injured, but not only that, Valladares and Villaroel are out for a month, meaning RM is being stretched, and now I have a lot of youngsters on the bench. So far, one has been given a sub appearance, and he took it, scoring 2 goals.

Now, with international break, there was some surprising news:

Didnt play much untill today. I will give a quick update of the opening stage, which I have just finished
