Henry never won this award, Isnt it? Actually Premier league always gets overlooked for these awards. Spanish and Italian league players wins it most times than not. Even when Henry was at his peak he didnt win, so that says something about these awards.
If he played for Barcelona during his peak , he would have won it. I've always believed that.

Player- Drogba or Schweinsteiger
Manager- Mourinho or Tabarez

Not a surprise to see no English players in the list.. Messi has to be favourite after his season last year.

Although, Sneijder's season wasn't half bad either.

However, after the season Wayne Rooney had last year it's weird seeing Asamoah Gyan there ahead of him. Seems like it's been a bit biased towards World Cup performers.

Suprised Rooney isn't there after the great season he had last year.

this is a bit of a joke, no Rooney, unbelivabley no Diego Milito. Puyol makes it but Pique doesnt.

Disopointed about no evra, vidic or rooney. I mean how can someone score 34 goals the season before and be excluded from that list as some of these players only had good world cups when they were pants for their clubs.

Even as a Scot, I think Rooney should be included. And where's Milito!? I think it'll be Sneijder now, and Bale if he continues at the same level next year.

Diego Milito goal won them Italian Cup, Seria A and Champions league still he is not nominated. Winning is secondary, but at least he should have got nominated.

Rooney for his brilliant season, Lampard for scoring 20 plus goals and 15 plus assists (Maybe wrong) didnt get nominated. World cup year doesnt mean you have to nominate players who had good WC, This award is meant to be Best player of the year not Best player of the World cup.

And Eto'o nomination is nothing but joke. He was not at all good last season.

Klose who scored 3 goals whole season got nominated for his world cup gaols. No wonder everyone call these award overrated and ****.

To those of you saying Rooney should be in there, just remember that the Ballon d'or is judged over the calendar year, so from January to December. Can someone please tell me what Rooney has done since March to even warrant a place on the list? He has been non existent since he played against Bayern. And for this is (rightfully) why he isn't on the list.

Asamoah Gyan's inclusion though has me stumped.

forgot it was calendar year, but milito's (THE big game forward of the calendar year) exclusion and gyans inclusion is a joke

Gave my vote to David Villa, as he had a good season as well as a good world cup. A lot of the players on the shortlist had one or the other. Also honourable mentions to Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Sneijder.

Messi won ahahahahahahahahahahaha i wonder what Mourinho was thinking when he saw that. Mou won the best manager and thats WHAT MATTERS! 2011 - Cristiano Ronaldo and Mourinho will win everything ;D
