The club is one of only three teams that competed in all Brazilian National League's first division championships since its inception in 1971. Internacional is ranked first in Americas and sixth in the World in number of paying members, with more than 104,000 members. They enjoy a traditional rivalry with the city's other big club, Grêmio - with derbies known as a "Gre-Nal".
Internacional were South American champions in 2010, having won their second Copa Libertadores title. 2006 was the most successful year in Inter's history as they won the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup, defeating European Champions FC Barcelona in the latter and South American reigning champions São Paulo FC in the former. Other international titles include the 2007 Recopa Sudamericana, the 2008 Copa Sudamericana and the 2011 Recopa Sudamericana.

Internacional Unveil New manager
The Colorado who have been managerless since the sacking of club legend Fernandão in November have finally announced his successor. Fernandão was dismissed after a series of poor performances which saw the club and it's players really struggle to find any sort of form. Club President Giovanni Luigi acted swiftly and it was Fernandão who was removed from his postion. Both Fernandão and Luigi remain friends and Fernandão has been told that he'll always have a place at Internacional due to his Legendary status within the club.

Fernandão Leaves The Colorado After Teams Poor Form
Internacional had now gone just over a month without a manager and the fans were getting restless especially with the Brazilian Gaúcho State Championship only weeks away. Luigi had bided his time, he had sounded out club directors to get involved and urged the fans to stay patient as his vision for the club needs a manager of Pedigree.
Just as the New Year started the Colorado and it's fans were promised some fantastic news. Giovanni Luigi had finally found his man. Someone who could lead the club to the dizzying heights of success, someone who could bring back the fight, the spirit, the commitment and the trophies.
Internacional set up a press conference inside a conference room within the Beira-Rio stadium and invited the Brazilian media to join. Around thirty journalists turned up representing a large core of Brazil's media empire. As the excitement grew within the conference room Luigi stepped out of the shadows and took a seat in the centre of the room. He sipped some water from a glass and relaxed in his chair. He thanked the journalists for coming and spoke about how proud of the fans he had been for being so patient with himself and the club. He apologised for the delay in finding a new manager but spoke confidently about the man he had chosen to lead the club into the future. He stood from his chair and gestured over to the side of the room.
All those in attendance held their breath... The room fell silent.... you could hear a pin drop it was so agonisingly quiet.... a door creaked open and a familiar face appeared. Dunga walked in! The former Brazil manager Dunga was now the Internacional manager. The Journalists scribbled in their notepads, texted on their phones and rang various colleagues who were not present. The room fell back into its silent state soon after Dunga took a seat next to Luigi.

Dunga Receives Replica Shirt From Geovanni Luigi
Dunga also briefly spoke about how he wanted the club to be managed and stated that he would be looking for young talent to come into the squad and learn how to play the Colorado way. He also assured the fans that talismanic striker Leandro Damiao would not be sold any time soon even though Tottenham Hotspur seem extremely interested.
The new Internacional boss was about to wrap up his speech when he was then asked to stay for a few more minutes by Giovanni Luigi who quickly jumped up from his seat and grapped a replica home shirt. He unfolded it and handed it to Dunga. The shirt was a guft from the club and has Dunga's name on the back. The press conference was soon after wrapped up and Dunga would now be allowed to focus on his day to day activities and the running of the club.
The Dunga Philosophy
During the time that Dunga spent away from the game he admitted to watching alot of European games on the TV particuarly Barcelona who he admires due to the way they play. Not so much the way they retain the possession but they way the playing squad seem to know where one another are in an almost telepathic way. He has suggested that he will use this approach when adopting the tactics he uses for his team.

The two tactics.. 1) The Retention To Detail Tactic and... 2) Holding Midfielder Release Technique
1) The Retention To Detail Tactic
Dunga has thought this tactic up using Barcelona's philosophy, it enables players to move up the pitch if more defensive without leaving gaps at the back. The tactic see's a holding midfielder used to cover the defence if either fullback wants to make an attacking run forward. The central midfielder is more of a box to box midfielder who should most likely spray the ball out around the pitch. He can however make a surging run forward too if he feels it will benefit the team. The Attacking Midfielder will either drop back or the defensive midfielder will cover depending on how the attack develops. The wingers will be asked to hug the line and Dunga will be relying on their pace and crossing abillity to deliver the perfect ball in to the striker and the attacking midfielder. The striker will be deep lying and will work around the attacking midfielder who should play just off the man up front.
The team will play to control the ball and will use their possession to direct the game. Dunga has however instructed his team to play with the famed Brazilian flair and will forgive players who use courage, determination and bravery but make mistakes. The passing style will be short and the Internacional players will be expected to employ an attacking edge using this tactic.
Holding Midfielder Release Technique
This tactic provides more of a Brazilian feel to it. It uses four attacking midfield players two of which will be inside forwards who will be expected to support the striker up top. The left attacking midfielder will be the player to link between the central and lone midfielder and the striker and wingers. The right attacking midfielder will play as a support to the striker aswell but from deeper and just outside the area. The defenders are more disciplined in this tactic as there is less cover available for the darting runs forward. With more discipline comes more concentration and this tactic should allow less of an attacking threat from the opposition.
Dunga has stated that this tactic will be employed as a backup tactic but has stated that he feels this could become the teams main tactic if he feels the training and performances are not good enough from 'Tactic 1'.
With just two Pre-season friendlies for the Colorado fans to get their teeth into before the Brazilian Gaúcho State Championship gets underway Dunga will want to focus on his squads training and the Transfer Market in the next week or so.
