Sport Club Internacional

A Brief Bit Of Information

Sport Club Internacional is a Brazilian football team and multi-sport club from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, founded on April 4, 1909. They play in red shirts, white shorts and socks, the first of which gives the team its nickname of Colorado (The Red).

The team's home stadium is known as the "Giant of Riverside", or Beira-Rio, on the Giant of the Guaíba River, and it holds 60,000.

The club is one of only three teams that competed in all Brazilian National League's first division championships since its inception in 1971. Internacional is ranked first in Americas and sixth in the World in number of paying members, with more than 104,000 members. They enjoy a traditional rivalry with the city's other big club, Grêmio - with derbies known as a "Gre-Nal".

Internacional were South American champions in 2010, having won their second Copa Libertadores title. 2006 was the most successful year in Inter's history as they won the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup, defeating European Champions FC Barcelona in the latter and South American reigning champions São Paulo FC in the former. Other international titles include the 2007 Recopa Sudamericana, the 2008 Copa Sudamericana and the 2011 Recopa Sudamericana.

Internacional Unveil New manager

The Colorado who have been managerless since the sacking of club legend Fernandão in November have finally announced his successor.
Fernandão was dismissed after a series of poor performances which saw the club and it's players really struggle to find any sort of form. Club President Giovanni Luigi acted swiftly and it was Fernandão who was removed from his postion. Both Fernandão and Luigi remain friends and Fernandão has been told that he'll always have a place at Internacional due to his Legendary status within the club.

Fernandão Leaves The Colorado After Teams Poor Form

With Internacional finishing 10th in the Brazilian National First Division Giovanni Luigi was keen to get a manager on board who could galvanise his squad and install the belief back into the squad. He wanted someone who was experienced managing in Brazil and an individual who would be ruthless when dealing with players who were not performing.

Internacional had now gone just over a month without a manager and the fans were getting restless especially with the
Brazilian Gaúcho State Championship only weeks away. Luigi had bided his time, he had sounded out club directors to get involved and urged the fans to stay patient as his vision for the club needs a manager of Pedigree.

Just as the New Year started the Colorado and it's fans were promised some fantastic news. Giovanni Luigi had finally found his man. Someone who could lead the club to the dizzying heights of success, someone who could bring back the fight, the spirit, the commitment and the trophies.

Internacional set up a press conference inside a conference room within the Beira-Rio stadium and invited the Brazilian media to join. Around thirty journalists turned up representing a large core of Brazil's media empire. As the excitement grew within the conference room Luigi stepped out of the shadows and took a seat in the centre of the room. He sipped some water from a glass and relaxed in his chair. He thanked the journalists for coming and spoke about how proud of the fans he had been for being so patient with himself and the club. He apologised for the delay in finding a new manager but spoke confidently about the man he had chosen to lead the club into the future. He stood from his chair and gestured over to the side of the room.

All those in attendance held their breath... The room fell silent.... you could hear a pin drop it was so agonisingly quiet.... a door creaked open and a familiar face appeared. Dunga walked in! The former Brazil manager Dunga was now the Internacional manager. The Journalists scribbled in their notepads, texted on their phones and rang various colleagues who were not present. The room fell back into its silent state soon after Dunga took a seat next to Luigi

Dunga Receives Replica Shirt From Geovanni Luigi

Dunga looked out at the media and smiled. He spoke about his long conversations with the club and that he and his family felt that the time was right for him to come back into management after his removal as the national team manager. He admitted that after listening to the clubs vision and learning about the clubs ethos that he had been enchanted and seduced by such a wonderful club. He promised to give his all for the club and assured the fans that he won't let the club down.

Dunga also briefly spoke about how he wanted the club to be managed and stated that he would be looking for young talent to come into the squad and learn how to play the Colorado way. He also assured the fans that talismanic striker Leandro Damiao would not be sold any time soon even though Tottenham Hotspur seem extremely interested.

The new Internacional boss was about to wrap up his speech when he was then asked to stay for a few more minutes by Giovanni Luigi who quickly jumped up from his seat and grapped a replica home shirt. He unfolded it and handed it to Dunga. The shirt was a guft from the club and has Dunga's name on the back. The press conference was soon after wrapped up and Dunga would now be allowed to focus on his day to day activities and the running of the club.

The Dunga Philosophy

During the time that Dunga spent away from the game he admitted to watching alot of European games on the TV particuarly Barcelona who he admires due to the way they play. Not so much the way they retain the possession but they way the playing squad seem to know where one another are in an almost telepathic way. He has suggested that he will use this approach when adopting the tactics he uses for his team.

scinternacionaltacticso.png
scinternacionaltacticso.png

The two tactics.. 1) The Retention To Detail Tactic and... 2) Holding Midfielder Release Technique

1) The Retention To Detail Tactic

Dunga has thought this tactic up using Barcelona's philosophy, it enables players to move up the pitch if more defensive without leaving gaps at the back. The tactic see's a holding midfielder used to cover the defence if either fullback wants to make an attacking run forward. The central midfielder is more of a box to box midfielder who should most likely spray the ball out around the pitch. He can however make a surging run forward too if he feels it will benefit the team. The Attacking Midfielder will either drop back or the defensive midfielder will cover depending on how the attack develops. The wingers will be asked to hug the line and Dunga will be relying on their pace and crossing abillity to deliver the perfect ball in to the striker and the attacking midfielder. The striker will be deep lying and will work around the attacking midfielder who should play just off the man up front.

The team will play to control the ball and will use their possession to direct the game. Dunga has however instructed his team to play with the famed Brazilian flair and will forgive players who use courage, determination and bravery but make mistakes. The passing style will be short and the Internacional players will be expected to employ an attacking edge using this tactic.

Holding Midfielder Release Technique

This tactic provides more of a Brazilian feel to it. It uses four attacking midfield players two of which will be inside forwards who will be expected to support the striker up top. The left attacking midfielder will be the player to link between the central and lone midfielder and the striker and wingers. The right attacking midfielder will play as a support to the striker aswell but from deeper and just outside the area. The defenders are more disciplined in this tactic as there is less cover available for the darting runs forward. With more discipline comes more concentration and this tactic should allow less of an attacking threat from the opposition.

Dunga has stated that this tactic will be employed as a backup tactic but has stated that he feels this could become the teams main tactic if he feels the training and performances are not good enough from 'Tactic 1'.

With just two Pre-season friendlies for the Colorado fans to get their teeth into before the
Brazilian Gaúcho State Championship gets underway Dunga will want to focus on his squads training and the Transfer Market in the next week or so.

Great opening read mate. I did a Internacional story but it didn't last long so keep it up. I'm definitely following. Otavio is a beast in this game although I think in new patch he's not so good though.

Internacional have been extremely busy in the Transfer Market and Dunga has looked to make the team his own. Giovanni Luigi has stumped up a transfer kitty of around £4,500,000 with the revenue player sales on top for Dunga to play with in the Transfer Window. Dunga will have to be wiley in the market but should know an incredible amout about young Brazilian talent from his says as the national coach.

Marquinhos --------- Adryan -------- Wellington Nem -------- Jádson ----------Igor Juliáo

Dunga has successfully signed some genuine Brazilian talent and wth Marquinhos the oldest at twenty-three the Colorado boss has done what he had been instructed to do and has started building his dynasty within the club.

Marquinhos signed first and will hopefully live up to the potential he had been touted as having a few years ago. It seem's Dunga has taken a chance on him and he will be expected to repay his managers faith in him by starting the season in good form. Young Adryan signed soon after and with his raw talent he looks to have a fantastic future ahead of him. His freekick taking his superp and he could score some important goals this year for the club.

Wellington Nem was the next to arrive and with a Brazil call up touted to be on the cards soon he will want to show off his talent at Internacional to ensure that the call comes to fruition. His speen and crossing will be vital for the club and he could link up up with Damiao very well.
Jádson signed from Botofoga and is another talent which has been spoken of recently. Dunga certainly seems to have the aura around him to attract these young potential stars.

With Internacional light in the Right back position Dunga was made to sign one more player who cost alot more than the club would liked to have spent.
Igor Juliáo joined from Fluminense and will cover the Right back position before earning the right to claim the position as his own. Many have stated that with his talent it won't be long befpre he becomes the first choice Right Back.

Two of Internacionals most experienced players left the club as Rodrigo Moledo and Mario Bolatti moved to Europe in deals which financed a few of the incoming players transfer deals. Some of the youngsters went out on loan but other than that there has been no other big news about players leaving the club.

With the squad now starting to take shape with the right blend of youth and experience Dunga will be confident that his team will be able to challenge for honours this year. The squad will look to gel together quickly and hit the ground running when the campain starts.

Dunga has done well to keep Leandro Damiao, especially after a few high profile clubs enquired about his availabilty. Now however his mind will turn to pre-season.

Pre-Season: Things Will Need To Get Better

Dunga will only get two games to assess his squad before his side participate in the
Gaúcho State Championship. It's a hard task for the players to really stake a claim for a starting position in the squad as the only have 180 minutes to do so. Dunga will be looking to play as many players as he can so he gets to see as many players as possible play in a competetive game. Training will also aid Dunga and when the season finally starts it will be interesting to see who he chooses to play in the starting line up come the first day of the new campaign.

The Colorado will face off against the lowly division based Salgueiro and then four days later take on Palmeiras. The Internacional fans and the backroom staff will be expecting a romp against Sangueiro as they will pose little threat to the Colorado and will most likely tire further into the game. Expect a big result. Palmeiras will acts a sterner test and will really show off how good and how far Internacional have come under the short guidance of Dunga so far.

Dunga will have been seriously disappointed with this result. Although the team won, they should have scored more as they dominated possesion and spent the majority of the match deep with the Salquerio half. Things looked good for the Colorado early on as Marquinhos put the away side ahead scoring a finely struck finish which whistled into the Salguerio goal. He had latched onto a lovely Lucas Severo through ball and swiftly got the Colorado fans on their feet. It was the last time the away fans were on their feet though however as Internacional just couldn't find away past the home teams defence, despite having the lions share of possession. The only other talking point about this match came in the twenty-second minute when Leandro Damião struck the post from around thirty-five yards out.

Although this game ended in a stalemate, Dunga would have been satisfied with what he had seen. His team battled hard and looked stronger on the ball. New signing Adryan played a key role in this match and often dictated how the attacking play was orchestrated. it seems he may be in line for a first team place come the start of the season. Palmeiras however played equally as good just with less possession. This didn't matter though as they scored early on which shocked and looked to rattle the Colorado but eleven minutes later the teams were level again through a powerful Leandro Damião header which was scored from a D'Alessandro inswinging corner. Both teams came close to taking the advantage with Palmeiras' young striker Vinicius looking to add to his first goal only to be denied by the fingertips of Muriel who kept Internacional from going behind for the second time.

Now Dunga will be looking to make a huge impact in the Gaúcho State Championship which his team managed to win last year. Gremio the clubs fiercest rivals will also be the team most likely to upset the Colorado claiming the title again this year as both teams are of a similar standing and both also play in the National First Division. So the season looms ever closer!

Love it. And it's something with Brazilian teams, just like stories and thing about them!

really like it, but shouldn't you have more than one goalie?
