Are you interested in doing all this ? (Gaming Log)

a) Develop a whole team (more than 11 players at a time, not just 1-2) of wonderkids/ regens from your youth team to world class players
b) Tight control on wages usually 30% below target.
c) Squad all set with world-class players for the next 10 years
d) Continuously improve squad and premier league position and get trophies
e) Untouchable when it comes to finances
f) State of the art facilities.

Here's what I did with QPR in 3.5 years

There are quite a few fantastic blogs on fm where folks describe tactics, stories etc. but very few if anything on effective squad management and effective finances.

Quote from fm managerial tactics bible TTF ".. A manager is generally successful due to a combination of four things: good tactical management; good man-management; good transfer policy; availability of and good management of funds..."

I have been playing fm 2012 for less than a year but I have been very successful simply by using good squad and finance management which are two of the four key items from the TTF. I am actually quite poor at tactics and training etc. so I just use the tactics from Raikan who i think is a tactical genius and dunc's or raver's training.

The squad and finance management approach I use is a modified version of two posts from Darren
Football Manager financial guide: Part 2 - 'youth to gold' system » Football Manager Stories

I have already used it successfully for QPR and Wolves and I am thinking I will do a story on another relegation threatened side and bring it to the top by effective squad management. So which premier relegation threatened side should I manage for this story ?

Financial control is about all I'm good at. But I have a really hard time selling off dead weight. So generally my out transfers are in the $3-5 million range. Even trying to sell one of my best DC is tough. His asking wage is too high... I'm paying him $38k a week... No way he's asking for much more. Even his transfer fee is only 5m. I'm reluctant to sell off my players I use because they play great. And I'm not hurting for money. All the transfers in are prospects that I try to develop.

Blackburn!

Its funny because I was thinking about the same team. Its actually a lot easier with Blackburn. Its unbelievable that the bubble head 'kean' could get this team relegated.. i mean they have rochina, holiet, samba and yakubu for pete's sake.
But I think i still might manage that team to see how much better can i do than bubblehead

try to do this in spain. you will have a lot of trouble getting money with clubs like Santander, Zaragoza or Mallorca as in Spain you won't get as much tv-money as in england.

I've never actually had a problem with money in FM12. No, seriously. The only thing i struggle with is signing players i want if i'm running less popular side.

Buy cheap, sell expensive works wonders. If player gets old, sell. If player doesn't train hard enough, sell. If playet gets injured a lot, sell. If players keeps moaning about new contract every year, sell. If player is good but very incosistent, sell.

Luckily AI managers aren't too bright and are usually quite happy to overpay for aging, unprofessional, or otherwise unreliable footballers. Even with bad transfers you can usually at least get the money back.
