Squad Status Clarification

I always assumed that the squad status kind of breaks down into the following categories:

Key player - expect to play every important game and most other games
First team - expect to play the majority of games
Squad rotation - expects to play roughly every other game
Backup - only expects to play if the first teamer is injured or in poor form

Only my players seem to complain about a lack of game time, particularly for the lower two statuses.

Do I have my assumptions wrong?

I think that is about right, but that doesn't mean a player won't be bothered about playing! If you played for a team, and were told that you would only be rotated, you'd still want to play most matches, even if you shouldn't be expecting it

True (it happens in my Sunday morning team, where I appear to be a linesman more than a player these days). It's just annoying when they moan about it
